Sorry, don't agree with this. The f'in NFL can put up the money. Maybe some of those multimillion-dollar coaches & players can put some skin in the stadium building game.

From what I can see at a couple of different articles this doesn't appear to be quite a done deal yet. But it does appear that Chicago politics has made a cluster out of the entire situation.
I'll be following with interest as I'm a minor fan since they originated near my home town in Decatur, IL as the Staley Bears.

To be fair, the place they're looking to move is less than 5000 ft from Illinois. Just enough to change the tax regime, but the traffic will still be miserable.

Not surprising. Indiana has cheaper gas, liquor and cigarettes. Back in the day you could buy the heavy duty insecticides.Bears have threatened this for years. Bad day for Prickster and his cousin who apparently had ties to Mr.Epstein.

Coaches and players? You mean owners. They are the ones making hundreds of millions every year for30+ years.

I think the average NFL career is maybe 5 years, probably less.

First time in my life I agree with Pritzker. I think every state should quit funding these ever more expensive stadiums that the rich owners should be funding. I remember when Cowboys stadium was 1 billion and everyone thought that was absolutely crazy. I’m betting the Bills stadium will end up being 3x that.

Football is the biggest scam going for a city. Most years there is only 8 or 9 home games total so it not like baseball where you are putting thousands of extra people spending a bunch of money 80-90 days a year.

Football not only has very few games in the city and the fans tend to tailgate so they spend less money at your local businesses than other sports. They also tend to go home after the game or sooner since they have to get up for work the next day and they’ve been tailgating for hours at this point.

Not saying it won't happen but I'll believe it when I see it. I cannot believe the politicians in Illinois would let the Bears escape. If this is true and it happens, Prickster can kiss any dream of sitting in the White House good bye.

Yep. Ol Jerry f’in Jones down here, when wanting go leave Irving and build his new monstrosity he first went to the mayor of Dallas. I think it was she at the time. Jerry was trolling for the free dollars and the city of Dallas told Ol Jerry what he could do with himself. So Jerry goes to Arlington trolling for dollars. They put the vote to the homeowners/citizens, and they voted, themselves, for the public funding. But the kicker is they got taxed for it, via property taxes, sales taxes, whatever, but the flip side is Ol Jerry doesn’t cut them into profits down the road and pay them back. It’s a total fleece and a scam. You’re a billionaire. So fund your multi-billion structure yourself. Go get a loan or something. My friend’s bar he runs is just a few miles a way and he’s plugged into all local intel. He’s told me about the city workers of Arlington that have to go clean up all the trash the fans leave all around the stadium, on the streets, etc. Those same homeowners that voted for Jerry World don’t get a dime, meanwhile Jerry makes off with all the dough. I’ve never been more thankful in my life, about living here, than I was when the news announced the building site and how it was no where near where I live. Nobody wants all that traffic around your home.

Very similar deal here with the Chiefs. They are moving to Topeka, Kansas come 2030. At least that's the situation today. Topeka, Kansas? So, they would be the Topeka Chiefs I guess.

The wife is beside herself. She was born and raised in Kansas City and her family went to their first Superbowl in 1967. Len Dawson was the quarterback. She has been a fan ever since. Not anymore.

Yep.
I'm tired of this game. They pit one state against another to see who can award them with the biggest "package" all at the expense of the tax paying public.
And most of the public paying the taxes don't even benefit in any way.

‘The numbers are just not credible’: Kansas used flawed math to estimate economic impact of Chiefs relocation, experts say
The Beacon spoke with four economists who say the state relied on inflated numbers to make the stadium deal look better.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

They're moving the stadium to somewhere in Olathe. It's 25 miles west of where they are right now. They aren't moving to the middle of Kansas.

Municipalities competing for businesses is nothing new. It’s why there’s a WalMart distribution center just over the county line from our county.

Everything north of Nottingham Road is one of our county’s neighboring county:

The real problem is many, most?, of our elected officials are not up to the task of negotiating good terms in these deals.

This happens all the time here.

In Philadelphia where they tax the living shit out of everything that moves, we have City Line Avenue which on one side is Philadelphia and the other side is Montgomery county.

The Philadelphia side is desolate. The Montgomery county side is booming because everyone moved across the street to not get taxed to death.

Friggen Democrats just cannot grasp this concept. Roll Eyes

Not Topeka, Kansas City Kansas - near the Legends and Kansas Speedway... Just a couple of miles from the state line. And their Headquarters and practice facility will be in Olathe.
It IS a scam - the State of KS rolled out the red carpet and the Chiefs are basically getting a free ride. Billionaires do not need public funding...

I was reading a WSJ article on the move and the authors cited taxes as the primary reason for the move. Apparently the Bears have wanted a new stadium for years and actually purchased property to build it but an analysis of the taxes to be paid on a $2 billion facility would end up being somewhere between $150-250 million PER YEAR! Apparently Cooke County didn’t have any interest in providing any tax relief. The move to Indiana would reduce the tax burden by something like 90%.
