I currently use a pc with the old micro soft money app. I am thinking of going to a Mac computer and would like to know if there are any money management systems that are similar to ms money? Thanks!

MoneyDance, I have been using this bookkeeping app for over 20 years since it was distributed on floppy disks. The original author was a member of a computer club/user group in my area, and would demo/peddle the product at meetings. Feature for feature it compares well with QuickBooks, and it supports all Quicken data formats for import and export. Reasonable cost with a free trial, and unparalleled customer service. There's an iPhone app as well as iPad and macOS. It is suitable for personal/family money management, or even a small business's accounting needs. I'd be happy to answer questions sent to my e-mail address.

Quicken is a monthly subscription product. Is this a web based app or is it standalone on my Mac, so I can use it without being online? Their website is the usual fluff without details. Presumably it automatically retrieves information from brokerage, credit card, and bank accounts? Does it have a forward looking calendar function that will alert me to things like bonds maturing?

They’re all subscriptions now. I still have the 2018 version as it’s the last one you can purchase once. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

I was running Quicken for windows on my Mac behind Parallels but just switch to the Mac version. It needs work but I’m dumping windows from my Mac. The Quicken feature I find I can't do without is their connection to financial institutions - banks, credit cards, brokerages, etc. - to grab transaction details. Saves me a skidload of effort at tax time. I don't rely on either the institution (or Quicken, for that matter) as to categorizing the transactions, but they get the dates, amounts and payees right, which is all I need.
