Pet clippers are cheaper than human ones. The Andis I got from Petco works just fine. Interchangeable blades.

I normally get a haircut every 2 weeks but with all the closures I had to buy a WAHL clipper set from CVS ($45) and get to it myself.

The sides and top came out better than I thought it would, but the back is a little trickier. Give it a shot! Plenty of videos on youtube. Definitely pick up a large hand mirror also!

Ok, with the encouragement of the members here I took a run at cutting mine. Lets just say I have no future in hair styling. Its shorter and I have plenty of hats, so I guess its alright for now.

How's everybody liking this trial run on being Venezuela? Personally, I think it sucks.

my first head shave was 9-22-14. i use schick slim twin 2 (st2) disposable 12 packs, and one lasts at least a month, so the pack more than a year.

Clippers with #2 guard. If I have an oops I ditch the guard and buzz it down to the scalp. I get my wife to clean up the back of my neck. Did it for almost 10 years until I got promoted. Just started back up. I'd forgotten how much easier it is to deal with.

Yes, but I wear a crew cut, so it isn't exactly rocket surgery.

Just wondering if could get a hair cut kit and a mirror and whack away at it and get a decent result?

I don't want to look like Cousin Itt lol

I've been getting a haircut once a week for decades but when they started closing businesses down I bought a clipper set just in case. Sure enough the next day the order came down to close barber shops. After about 3 weeks without a haircut last Friday I did my first haircut, took about 15-20 minutes, and it came out pretty good. I made one mistake on the top of my head but that will grow back in a few days but overall I'm pleased with the job I did. Since my first cut turned out well I can only get better the more times I cut my own hair. So from now on instead of paying a barber to cut my hair and paying 17 bucks a week I'll cut my own hair and save that 17 bucks which comes out to almost 900 a year.

Doing it since 2008. Whal Clippers about $30.

12 years x 6 hair cuts x $15, Thus saved $1,000-$2,000 over that time.

As others have said, the back can be tricky. I've found long bits running my hands through the back on the way to work. So yes a hand mirror to check the back is needed.

I cut mine down almost all the way with a #3 guard just a few days ago. First time I ever gave myself a haircut. It turned out ok.

I let the wife cut my hair with a beard trimmer on Saturday. All I can say is that I look like a cross between Moe Howard and Hitler. Definitely wearing a ballcap for the duration of the quarantine.

I give a little back neck shave and sometimes a bit of the top with scissors, but nothing close to a "hair cut". I'm three weeks past my usual 3-4 week cycle and my wife says I'm looking like Boris Johnson. I guess the next phase will be full on hippy.

I had my semi-hippie years. So it doesn't really matter to me. 70 and still have most of it. Although it is thinning.
