I really need a haircut.

All barber shops are closed here. There are a few advertising mobil haircuts on Craigslist but no way am I going to try that.

Just wondering if could get a hair cut kit and a mirror and whack away at it and get a decent result?

I don't want to look like Cousin Itt lol

Been cutting my own hair for years. My wife got me a nice buzzer and I usually have her finish up the back so it is at least even. I think it looks fine and certainly better than waiting and paying in a barber shop to get basically the same thing done. Takes some learning since everything is backwards in the mirror but it isn't too hard.

I did, but it was with electric clippers with no guard.

I highly doubt giving yourself an actual cut would turn out very well.

Buzz it! Go for that Corona Cut!

I bought a set of clippers on Amazon and watched some videos. Had a friend cut mine about 2-3 weeks ago. I was happy with the results.

I am going to need to cut it again and will likely do it myself this time.

I’ve used Wahl “hedge clippers” and have been getting “selfie cuts” for 20 years now. Male Patterned Baldness can be forgiving for haircut irregularities.

I have had a high and tight fir ages. It’s pretty easy to do yourself. Number two, all over. Take off boards and run straight blades to fade. It’s way easier without a mirror. The mirror will mess it up every time. Just trim, then look, trim and look.

That said, I will be okay with my barber opening back up.

Been buzzing my own hair for years. I use a 1/16" guard. Shave my neck with a DE razor using a hand mirror in front of the bathroom mirror.

I'm cheap!

I started cutting my own hair when I was in the Marine Corps. I don’t keep my hair as short as that now, but it’s still kept pretty short and it’s easy to do once you get the hang of it. I cut it close to 1/4 inch on the sides, tapered up to about 1.5 to 2 inches on top. I haven’t been to a barber shop in 30 years.

Get a kit, watch some YouTube tutorials, and give it a go!

I really need a haircut as well. I only cut my hair once a month. Since the business being closed, it is almost 2 months. No clippers to cut my own hair. I am seriously thinking of just shaving my hair off.

Since nature has seen fit to start the job for me, I shave my head down to bare skin twice a week or thereabouts with a Norelco triple head rotary. No bad hair days for me Big Grin

Yup, used to do it for my sons and occasionally for myself.

Started doing again for both the 8yo and myself....wife says I should just keep doing it myself.

Been cutting my own for some 20 years. I kept watching the hairstylist do it and thought, "I can do that". Bought a couple styling scissors (a regular one and a texturizing), and it was much easier than I thought. And it always comes out exactly how I like it, while with a hairstylist it was always hit-and-miss.

I needed haircut badly in late Feb, and was planning one in early March, but did not get to it, especially now with the lockdown. It has been months since my last one. This morning, my wife cut my hair, her very first time ever, and she did a decent job. Good enough to last until perhaps May, hopefully my barber shop will be back n action. She just used a pair of scissors and a youtube video she watched several times.

Still some clippers and kits on ebay, walmart, kohls.
I got mine short enough doing the top and sides. Wife helped for the back. Came out pretty good.
Might not need to use a barber again. Maybe once a month to keep it short.
I think we might be finding a lot of stuff that we really don't need or do during/after this.
