He Loved them! My family recommended this new Primary Care Doctor for me early this year as he is a friend of theirs. He had mentioned in a past visit that he'd love to see my handguns if I wanted to send him some photos. Instead I bundled up my two semi-custom 1911's, the Python, and my P228 into my backpack and brought them to my appointment. He loved them and showed me his Glock he carries concealed. He also invited me to shoot with him yesterday when he got out of work. Though he understands that I just don't have the endurance these days, he said I could shoot from a chair if I wished...maybe another time. I haven't shot my handguns since late 2008 because of health junk.

The Doc is interested in my Dillion 550b reloader and wants to stop by and check it out. I've never been so comfortable with a Primary Care Doctor as Kevin. I've been tossed around between so many Doctors since my brain injury. How refreshing to have a very understanding Doctor treating me. His office is decorated with photos of him in a pilots uniform as he flew choppers on tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also is a Reserve Police Officer in his spare time. He and his brother are both Doctors and own the 2-story Medical Center. I really lucked out under his care.

I just wanted to give him a great plug because he's a great Doc- 2-thumbs up experience!

Regards, Will G.

It's great to have a doctor like that!

I don't know about my primary care guy, I never discussed it with him, but my former aviation medical guy carried a P226, and two of the urologists I have used recently shoot H&K (not sure which model) and P320, respectively.

To date, I have not run into an anti-gun doc that I'm aware of.

My Primary Care Doctor owns and shoots guns, and knows that I do, too. We don't discuss them, though--when I'm at an appointment we discuss my health. He's very busy and doesn't have time to just chat.

I've never had a discussion about firearms with my physician. I really don't care what her opinions are as long as she is treating my health concerns to the best of her ability.

I really like my PC doctor. We have fishing and hunting for common interests and trade stories occasionally but as flashguy said, PC doctors are always very busy so we don't chat much. He saved my life by suspecting cancer early on and sent me to right specialists to take care of it, so there's that.

Basically this was an unscheduled visit, it was more an appointment to pick up some updated prescriptions. We have had recent appointments whereas my recent health concerns were addressed in detail and a plan established for getting my heart condition under control since hospitalization last month. I'm very fortunate that Kevin is a family friend and takes my health very seriously, thats why my family recommended him. I'm just glad to have him in my corner, many times better than my last PCP that never quite listened to me but was awfully quick to write a lot of prescriptions that had it's share of side effects that I didn't benefit from. Kevin is the opposite in his approach to prescribing and listens to my feedback. Being a firearm enthusiast is just a pleasant bonus! Smile

Same here. I won't be hanging out with him so I could care less what his hobbies are away from work. Pretty sure he feels the same way about me.

My doc only asked once.
After I requested he add a lead screen to my blood work, he asked why. I told him shooting and reloading. His response, "what do you shoot? I used to shoot cans with a 22 as a kid"
We get along fine.

Well, when they rolled out Obamacare couple years ago now, my physician's assistant did go through some preliminary questions (to enter into the computer, don't ya know) and one was "do I have any unsecured firearms in the house." Nope....next.

"Do I use a bike helmet?" Uh, no, I don't. Didn't need one when I was a kid jumping curbs and tearing around, I don't need one now riding a great bike on a smooth bike trail!

That did rankle me somewhat...

Had to have cataract surgery. Got two recommendations so I visited them both. During each of the visits I explained that my two favorite activities were suffering because of my vision, shooting and golf. The first guy went on his schpeal about how I need this and that and should do both eyes. The second doc I visited had a much better response to my statement. His first question was "Pistol or Rifle?". Went into detail about my shooting and my complaints about my vision. He told me what he does which is he made a pair of glasses with one clear lens and one a soft reading prescription. He says the target will still be in relative focus but I will only see one set of sights Smile

Best decision I ever made going to him. My shooting is getting better as I figure out the right strength.

My doc is my shooting buddy. I met him shooting before he was my doc.

Good for you. That is great.

I carried into my Drs. office once and had to pull up my shirt for him to look at something. He saw my piece and said nothing, though there is a no guns sign on the front door.

My son in law is a doctor and I bought him an AR for his Med school graduation.

By him having that, his dad who is a Dr. started buying guns, we have gone shooting together though we live about 2 hours away.
