After 40 years in uniform, I pulled the pin. Last day was last Friday. I'm so relieved to escape the toxic clown circus of law enforcement. No plans of yet, but I think I'm going to be a substitute teacher at the local school district, or just sit at home and smoke weed (just kidding).

I’ve got a least 10 years left before I can bail out of the workforce. I’m jealous. Enjoy!

Congratulations you’re going to love it. No specific schedule is a blessing that is vastly underrated.

My wife and I retired on the same day nearly 9 years ago. We've had the times of our lives and wake up each day being thankful for this freedom. You'll stay busy in a different way - just like we do. Best regards.

You're retiring from LEO to go work in education?? Eek Eek Eek Eek

My advice is to find a good hobby that is less stressful like bomb diffusing, car salesman, stock broker or project manager maybe.

Honestly, find a real hobby like fishing or classic cars, something you can relax and enjoy.

On the tail end of that, congratulations and well done on your longevity behind the badge.

Congrats! Retired at the end of 2021, and was happy to dump the body armor, duty belt, and liability insurance. If being a sub brings you joy, go for it. I’m living my best life doing something I really enjoy- alternating between driving and raft guiding on the Shenandoah River. I’m having a blast at 58 holding my own against 20- something kids and loving it.
