Currently shopping for new washer/dryer set. Which of the major brands would you consider to be the least problematic?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Tom

I don't think Brad frequents the forum any more. It seems that visiting the forum stopped being enjoyable for him because he felt obligated to answer all the questions he received.

Brad is a good guy and it is very unfortunate that we ran him off.

Para, if that's the reason he's no longer participating then that is REALLY Unfortunate! He is Definitely one of the Good Guys! Maybe we could reach out and ask him nicely to come come back and rejoin the fray? Maybe you could change his user name so he could run somewhat under the radar?

I know he helped me out a jam w/ two different appliances, and I was supremely grateful!! Hopefully his expertise and willingness to come to the aid of anyone who needed help was not taken for granted, and more importantly, I hope he did not feel that was the case! Honestly, I assumed life had gotten real busy for him as he wore many hats. If we ran him off, that is tragic!!!

I think Paras on the right track with a bit of a difference. I asked him for help once and he came through, and saved me 500 bucks. After his post some others joined in with their opinions and I think that may have bothered him. And rightly so. I emailed him with my thanks.

His insights into Michigan politics is very much missed. I hope he is still enjoying getting together for dinner and shooting with other members of the forum in that part of the state.

"that reason may be a good portion why , but he also has many other irons in the fire.

beside his family , his farm , he is also politically involved and is a volunteer first responder , then there is the whole camp perry shoot thing.

A fine member , just taking a break , ( i hope)"

While I am not Brad he recently helped me out when my Samsung died.
He suggested Whirlpool or Maytag whichever fits your budget and needs.
We got a Whirlpool.
He strongly advised against Samsung and LG.

Think about it, guys- if just about every time you visited this forum, somoeone was asking you to answer work-related questions, how long would you last before you just stopped visiting?

I concur with not selecting Samsung. When we were fixing our house up for sale, we put in a samsung dishwasher. It broke before we sold.

Our current house has kithenaid appliances in the kitchen. 18years old and still kicking. Only maintenance I've had to do is on the stove/oven (new brains) and new hinges/springs on the convection oven.

Our washer/dryer is electrolux. Our dryer needed to have a part replaced after a year (the heat element) but has been solid ever since.

Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Not speaking for Brad, but earlier this year, my wife and I bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer. We actually purchased last year's model before the revamping of their line this year. Best W/D system we ever owned.

I enjoy his posts about family, farm, and politics. I, too, hope he's just busy or taking a break. Para's right--getting tons of work-related questions would eventually wear thin on even the most generous of spirit.

I have an LG set that's coming up on 4 years old, which shouldn't be long for a major appliance but nowadays probably is. So far zero issues. Washer is HE top load, we keep the door open and haven't had any moisture or mold issues. Dryer is front load, gas - also had electric version. Has a water res on top which allows for some steam functions which is handy. Don't recall what we paid for the set or where we got them but I'm thinking maybe Lowe's and a tad under 2k. Good value in my opinion they're good quality.

If anyone has his contact information, I'd love to just send him some encouragement, etc. He's done a lot for us here in Michigan, outside of the appliance world.

What should happen is someoe contacts him, asks him to return if he desires, then everyone here needs to promise to cease putting his username into subject lines. No more, at all, ever. Otherwise, it'll just creep back up to 5+ threads a week, asking the man for information.

toms, while not cheap, certainly not problematic. I would buy a speed queen basic washer. I would not worry too much on the dryer. Just get a good price on a whirlpool or similar on it.

Good luck buddy.

Kinda like bombarding Jeff Yarchin with dog food questions. I have to admit while I didn't ask Jeff any questions I sure enjoyed reading his replies to those questions, I learned a lot. Thanks Brad & Jeff you men are truly appreciated and make this forum what it is. Thanks again!

Brad used to generally recommend Whirlpool and Maytag when it came to washers and dryers..... Or Speed Queen if you wanted to go old school and didn't need the extra capacity.

IDK the real reason Brad left. Everyone is different. I'm a Senior Member on the worlds largest yachting forum (my profession). I enjoy answering questions, giving advice and helping people out on there with issues that they have on their yachts. To me, it brings me personal satisfaction to help others. Some people like to leave work at work also.

We actually did the same thing right before Christmas and have been happy with the purchase.
We moved up from a Bosch front loaders that was in need of repairs but parts were hard to come by.
