Frankly I think it was more the kibitzing with alternative views/recommendations that got to him rather than the heavy number of requests. Brad is a SME (subject matter expert) and not those who stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last night. Frown I know that would be discouraging and insulting were that done to me.

I did email him the last time this issue came up, telling him that he was missed. He thanked me for flagging him to that thread in which many expressed wishes that he return. He expressed sorrow over Indy Rob's passing and said he messaged Ensigmatic in response to his election queries. But regarding his return, here is what he said (I don't think he'll mind my quoting him):

"Every morning when I get ready to walk out the door, my SigForum challenge coin goes in my pocket. The forum was a huge part of my life for a long long time. I have many good friends from there. Perhaps someday I'll be back."

I always enjoyed reading his posts on political threads. He always had really good insight that often made me re-evaluate what i thought i knew.

There are some members here who i consider the final word on a specific topic. Brad, david, skins, excam_man to name a few.

Just searching would probably provide members the answer they need from him 9 out of 10 times. You may have to do it via Google site search.

Hopefully he is still enjoying the forum under another name or if not, eventually can come back and enjoy it.

We have the done the washer and dryer question so many times...

The search feature, if you use advanced search, may find old threads that have not been pruned.

The answer, typically, is "buy Speed Queen, and if possible, the older product with the actual gearbox."

Since the old version is not available locally, we purchased a set with the new design, and are delighted. Buy Speed Queen with confidence.

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

“It is just as difficult and dangerous to try to free a people that wants to remain servile as it is to try to enslave a people that wants to remain free."
-Niccolo Machiavelli

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken

Didn't Brad get elected to some public office? If so, maybe that's why he's not around/available anymore.

He's still around on other "social media".

Speed Queen all the way!!! Even our local repairman said they are pretty much commercial grade. Go to your local laundromat, and see what brands they use. Speed Queen!!!

I'm no expert but I can share my experience.
I have had an LG washer and dryer set (gear driven) for almost 12 trouble free years. We USE them too. I have a wife and two daughters so I'd say we do and average of 2 loads of laundry a day and so far they've been 100%.

This is my reason for wanting to wish him well. Great guy.
