I haven't experienced that problem at all when in group texts with people with both devices.

Yep.

Wife has a rotary iPhone (4) with no desire to upgrade until it quits. It hasn't quit, soooo....

I'm Android and cheap. Still running a busted up Galaxy 6.

We don't have any issues with texts. The only dick move was when I went iPhone to Android and couldn't text for 90 days because I had been using iMessage, or whatever it is called and Apple completely cocks up the switch over because they don't seem to believe that folks would want to switch and actually keep texting on their new platform.

I think it may be an iMessage group text, which is incompatible with Android.

Our street has a big group text that a few of us are not a part of, because it's an iMessage group, of something like that.

There are work arounds for most things you'd want to do.

I think you'll be be stuck if there's anything you buy from Apple though. Apps, movies, music etc.

This is a total first world problem to start with. I’m just bored with the iPhone. I’ve played with Android a little and can appreciate it. I use my phone a lot for business, web and streaming music. I also have a new iPad Pro, so it’s not like I’d be disconnected from iTunes, etc. It sounds like there are work arounds to deal with most issues. BTW, I just left a Verizon store...there was a Samsung rep there that had the new S10 +. It was pretty sweet!

I have fun with a new phone as long as it's new. Then it's just an electronic tool.

And, while the fun of a new device is... well, fun, the hassle of getting everything I want the way I want it, again, is a hassle. So I don't even like upgrading w/in the same brand, much less switching platforms.

Yeah, but you may miss the integration between your phone and your tablet.

I recently bought Airpods. Why? In part because of their integration. I paired 'em with my phone and they were automatically paired to my iPad and my Apple Watch at the same time.

I won't repeat my criticisms of Android, Google/Alphabet and Samsung. I'm sure many here are tired of hearing them. Suffice it to say I trust none of them any further than I can spit.

For the Facetime replacement between you and your wife I'd look into Signal Private Messenger.

My wife has an iPhone, I have an android. I don't know anything about iphone. She doesn't either. So she keeps asking me. I try to figure it out.
But EVERYTHING On an android is completely intuitive and easy. Everything on a iphone is easy only after you have been shown it and thenceforth remember it. None of it is "intuitive".

I have Android, wife and daughter are iPhone, used to have a problem with group texts. I would get their texts individually, and then when opened they would merge (as I recall). This went away awhile ago , probably after a software update. Now no problem interacting, but we have not tried to find an app similar to Facetime. I let them do that.

I hear you, brother. My wife has an Iphone 7 and my ancient Galaxy S4 Mini still does all I need it to. I'm constantly trying to decipher the Iphone for her.

Yes, my wife and daughter have Apple.

I refuse anything Apple and have a Samsung Note 8. I had an Apple Computer in the Mid 1980's and no Apple product since. The company is too intrusive and expensive. I don't particularly care for their corporate ethics and political activities.

I can definitely see that and agree. I get really tired of Tim Cook’s pro gay agenda. Not that that’s necessarily what you’re referring too...

That's a sweet deal. When you get them, I'd be curious to know how you like them. I'm in the market for some ear buds. I guess I'll have to wait until March though for the Samsung pair.

The fact that you can wireless charge the Samsung ear buds on your S10 is pretty awesome.

Yep... the S10 looks to be a pretty cool phone. I use to get excited every time a new iPhone came out, but this last release or two has left me underwhelmed. I’m an admitted tech junkie though and this Samsung will be something different. I’ve had an iPhone since the 3s.

dry-fly, congrats on your new phone, I was doing some reading of the online reviews and it sounds like a great phone from the comments. I've always had a big interest in smartphone camera technology as it advances forward in all brands. New camera tech and sensor technologies are well beyond expectations. I have a thread running in the Gallery section on smartphone photos. Would you mind posting a few snaps in the thread when you get your phone.

Most recently I purchased the iPhone X seeing that my last iPhone the 6S was getting a little long in the tooth and battery life wasn't sustainable in the long run. I did take some good images so the camera tech and sensor was of good quality. I like a lot of the new phone features of the X but I'm still getting used to the camera functions.

I guessing just about all the newer smartphones are more than capable to snap great images. Enjoy your new phone and have fun using the new features and tech it affords. If you do get a chance please post an image or two and of course enter the phone you use. From some of the recent images it's clear that camera tech is reaching some great levels. Thanks.

Regards, Will G.
