We’ve always used apple devices in the dry-fly household, but I’m kinda thinking about this new Samsung Galaxy S10 for a change. That would leave me with an Android phone and my wife with an iPhone. Yes, they can obviously make phone calls to each other, besides that.... how difficult would it be to co exist? I take pics with my current iPhone and stream music, phone calls and text. I don’t store music on it like an iPod. Thanks guys.

Wife has apple, I have android.

Not really sure what you are asking. We can text one another and call one another. Neither streams music, but could if desired. Both are on the verizon network.

In my opinion, her phone sounds like crap. That could be the bluetooth to her car, the way she holds the phone, or the phone trying to volume control her voice. Supposedly, I am the only one who complains about it.

Wife has iPhone X, I have OnePlus 6. We have not filed for divorce yet.

Both phones work with everything in house/cars. You guys will survive.

I too have an iPhone and the wife Samsung. She has a Dell XPS laptop, I use a MacBook pro. We co-exist fine and no problems with phone/text communications. She is fine with her PC and I'm good with Apple. I have an extensive music playlist on my iPhone that works seamlessly with the bluetooth in my car for endless recorded music from my selections. The wife not interested in using bluetooth. We have 3 Dell computers and my MacBook in the house. I previously had a Dell laptop and an Android phone myself years ago but these days I just enjoy the Apple stuff out of choice and music/photos all sync perfectly. We're both happy with our choices and things always do have ways of changing but we're good to go today.

I'm not entirely sure I've responded to what you may be asking but it's all I can relate about using different tech.

Had same situation until a couple years ago. Girlfriend had iPhone and me with Android. We communicated via Google Hangouts but really you can use any of the multitude of messaging apps out there besides SMS. Photos are handled better in Android IMHO but everything was fine. She has since switched to Android.

Galaxy S10+ seems great but the price tags of phones these days will continue to make me hang onto my current phone longer and longer..

Sorry... my verbiage wasn’t that great. I guess I’m trying to ask how the two different phones will work together. We text pictures to each other, FaceTime on occasion... things like that. Are there work arounds if one person has Android and the other an iPhone. What roadblocks are there? Hope that asks my question better. I see that there is a way to import your iOS information into the new Galaxy, so that’s a plus. We’d still both be on Verizon.

Could you elaborate? When I snap a photo on my iPhone, by the time I open my MacBook the photos are already loaded into my Photo app and can be processed and/or edited seamlessly or moved to an Affinity app for more editing tools and choices. All post editing done on my phone or computer apply immediately and changes sync on both at the same time. I'm just curious because I'm always open to new or often better choices.

NO facetime on Android. I'm sure there are apps that might do something similar, but I don't bother since I hate facetime.

Hangouts has voice and video chatting features as well as numerous other messaging apps.

As for photos, Google Photos and Drive are on my Android as well as my laptop and desktop. I'm pretty sure it's also available on iPhone and Mac - you just have to download.

Turn on the Backup/Sync in Photos and it'll sync all images to Google cloud and available wherever you sign into your Google account.

iPhone to iPhone messaging works through iMessage. You can send higher quality photos and longer videos from iPhone to iPhone. Androids will not be able to get/send higher quality pics/videos through sms/mms.

Not minority enough!

2 apples (wife and oldest child) 2 androids (me and youngest child). We survive, but I can't help my wife with her phone questions...

We use a messenger app with a family group to talk to each other, instead of texts or whatever...It works on internet signal so even if cell signal is low (like our basement) the phone can still get the messages through wifi

You can share high quality photos thru apps like Telegram. I have shared original quality whole album of wedding photos and HD videos to relatives via Google drive (create a link in Drive app for a specific wedding photo folder) and send that link.

I've also logged onto public hotel computer to print out photo/invitation etc. without using my Google account password. I just approved the log in from my phone and I was in. Printed out photos, then log out.

Hmmm, I sense bitterness, LOL.

Duo, the app, works just fine.

FYI

I use a pixel, wife is an iphone devotee. We have no problems and she travels a lot for business, so facetime/duo is nice for humans that like each other.

My wife and I all have iPhones as well as her family, EXCEPT my wife’s brother who hates Apple and has a Samsung Android and it’s a real PITA with group texts, he often never gets them or gets them very late. It’s gotten to the point that we often leave him off group texts and just fill him in via email or in a separate direct text.

Apple and Android DO NOT get along well when it comes to messaging. Frown
