That is cool as hell. I wonder how much he is all in?

Go to his video on Youtube, not through the link, and he provides links to the components. Just looking at the camper, battery, control panel, and heater, he was close to $8000. I didn't take the time to add up all the smaller items. This space intentionally left blank.

I’m shocked a 20# tank will heat that through a NH winter. That is awesome.

This is the same unit I was talking about in the camper thread I have going. For a stationary structure for $8k you could build something you could stand up in have full kitchen a 50" tv and an inside crapper with electricity. And a small wood stove. I'm thinking that's the unit I saw in a YT video where a hotshot driver bolted it on top of the neck of his gooseneck trailer. Thought it was a really good idea saving him a lot of lodging money and also allowing him to be right there next to his trailered load. NRA Life Patron

I thought the propane heater he uses that is mounted on the outside of the shack would be great for an ice fishing house until I saw the price and the BTU's. Two grand for a heater that only kicks out 6500 BTU's is a bit much on price and short on heat. I'm sure it works fine for that tiny space. I'd be afraid Bigfoot would show up at night and pick the entire thing up with me in it and take it home with him! "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

The enclosure is interesting. I just don't see the attraction of sleeping in the forest in a little lighted box that looks like a commercial cooler. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

You don't like forest camping in a tent, Paul? I don't do it as often anymore, generally now setting up in primitive camp sites, anywhere to get away from the campers and motorhomes with their lights and generators. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

I don't mind sleeping under the stars. As long as there are five of them. On a Radisson sign. Seriously, never got into camping. Pretty fond of my own bed. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I don’t understand spending all that money to sleep like a homeless person. Golden lads and girls all must, As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.

People want to experience sleeping "outdoors" all sorts of ways, in a motor home or 5th wheel travel trailer, pop-up camper, a tent, or in an electrified walk in cooler with a window. Whatever floats your boat. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

I 'really' like waking up in a tent! You get to hear/experience the forest coming alive at '0 dark thirty' and it's definitely are much more 'one with nature' camping endeavor. That Freedom Camper 'tiny wilderness shelter' is pretty cool though. It would be even cooler if it were on a trailer disguised as a load of pallets. ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! You guys are missing out. I would love to have that camper tucked back in the woods behind our regular lake cabin. The solitude is worth the price. I sleep for three nights sometimes up to 20 miles out on a frozen lake during ice fishing season. Grant it I have more amenities in my 8X16 fish house but it's still pretty small. No internet no cable. Everyone knows I'm fishing and not to bother me. Other than my boys who are jealous because they have to work and always badgering me about how the fishing is. Step outside miles out on a frozen lake at night if you want to see some stars and hear just how quiet the world can be. Just like this guy in the forest the peace and solitude are worth the price. It's the kind you can't get anywhere else. Inside of my ice house. "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

I like it a lot. If money is a little tight, the first year or so you could put the basic unit on a deck but wait for all the electrical add-ons, etc. Of course if you don't own suitable land or just want greater mobility, put it on a truck. More power to the guys who want to set up a tent after a day of hunting or hiking, but that's not for me, especially if it has to be done in the dark. Heaven forbid it should be raining! ... stirred anti-clockwise.
