Good evening everyone. After reading this thread Sigforum silver coin thread, I was inspired to do a Karma on the subject! I’ve got TWO Sigforum challenge coins to Karma, & I would like to do something a little bit different for this Karma. I’d love YOUR help in choosing who gets them. So, if someone has made Sigforum better for you or for others, nominate them here. Big moments count, but so do the quiet, consistent acts that make this place the best on the internet. Every SIGForum member is eligible to be nominated (Owners & moderators included). How to nominate: Mention the name of the member you’re nominating (no self-noms, please) Share what they did to deserve to be nominated in a few sentences: • What happened? • Who did it help? • If you can, drop a link or mention the thread/topic so we can find it Some ideas of the types of things I would love to hear about are: ✨ Helpfulness: they took time to support someone ✨ Kindness: respectful, encouraging, welcoming ✨ Above-and-beyond: thoughtful effort, follow-up, or going the extra mile ✨ Positive impact: they genuinely made someone’s day or solved a problem I’ll read through the nominations and pick TWO winners based on the stories you share. Nominations close: Feb 22nd Winners announced: Feb 27th Thanks for helping helping me celebrate the best of Sigforum and making this my favorite place to hang out This message has been edited. There are many that should be nominated. I'm only choosing the person who is top of mind (because he was helpful yesterday / today). Kind of LIFO thing. Mention the name of the member you’re nominating: Rey HRH. I apologize to others of whom there are many that have passed on their knowledge for my benefit. Share what they did to deserve to be nominated in a few sentences: • What happened? Very helpful in providing information, education and tools to kick start a self-assessment of RMDs and how a Roth conversion might mitigate some concerns and/or better optimize future taxes (but to do so, need to act now). • Who did it help? Me. And perhaps others who read the posts. • If you can, drop a link or mention the thread/topic so we can find it. https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...0601935/m/7120011915 Some ideas of the types of things I would love to hear about are: * Helpfulness: With considerable time and effort, shared his expertise and learnings to that I (and perhaps others unfamiliar with the topic) could benefit leading to possible large impacts in a successful retirement finacial strategy with implications that may span decades. * Kindness: provided his insights and lent the benefit of his knowledge comprehensively, clearly and without condesencion. * Above-and-beyond: responded to follow-up questions and provided additional details / suggestions to better enable step-wise progress. * Positive impact: enabled a solid starting foundation upon which to build a more personal, detailed analysis that would facilitate a more engaging discussion with professional like an FA. I would like to nominate appliancebrad. For most members his generosity needs no introduction. He has, and continues to help members with all things appliance related. There are quite a few of us who have been spared the purchase of a new appliance by diagnosing cheaper fixes, helping to find parts, steering us away from questionable appliances, the list goes on and on. Thanks Brad!

I vote Marzy. (Mars_Attacks) Was a long time ago. Maybe 18 years or so. I was having some AC issues. He came by my house. Threw on a hard start CAP on the AC system. Kept it running for a couple more years before it totally died. Refused to take a dime from me. I've always remembered that gesture of kindness / generosity. Also brought me some of 45CALs honey. Invited me up to Buns & Bullets BBQ at Cockatoo farms. I've won a few karmas over the years. But he's dome more random acts of kindness to me than any other member. I nominate David Truong. I had a great neighbor who ws about to loose her house due to a nasty divorce. She was about to sell her wedding and engagement rings at a terrible price. I put her in touch with David. As you would expect he stepped up and gave her a great amount for her rings and saved her house. I was in Afghanistan and received a care package from David. I was unemployed and David sent help. My wife and I bought new wedding bands a few years ago and he made them. He is part of my daily life. I have never met him or even spoken to him on the phone, but I consider him a friend and someone I truly trust and consider a friend.

I would like to nominate p220 for his super consistent monthly pet reminder. Like he, we also give our dog his heartgard tablet every 1st and his reminder helped me on more than one occasion.

I'd like to nominate 357fuzz. A few years ago he spent a lot of time corresponding and helping me with some load development issues I was having with an Enfield, and even sent me some of his cast bullets on his dime for me to try. Most of the correspondence was through email, so there's no thread to link to even if I could find it again, but his assistance and generosity was greatly appreciated. There are several others here who have shown similar generosity to me in the past and I greatly appreciate them as well and wish I could nominate each of them. 357fuzz was just the first of several who came to mind. This is a great place. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

Beltfed21, back in 2019 I bought a K17 Smith revolver with Rubber grips. In the conversation about buying it I mentioned looking for wood grips , what was correct, where to find them. He went into his personal stash and offered up a set of Target grips, no charge, just cover postage. Beltfed21 is a perfect example of the brotherhood on SF and how we treat each other on the board, be it problems, advice, or gun stuff. Still can't thank him enough... https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...935/m/5610033254/p/4

+1 I have a nickel allergy and can't wear a watch longer than 3 days as nickel is a component of stainless steel. I've bought so-called titanium watches from stores only to wind up with a rash from a sub-component being titanium. I contacted Dave, he called the director of engineering at Citizen, and they found a Citizen watch where only titanium would touch my skin. My left wrist has been rash free ever since 2013. I'd like to nominate Bronicabill and Stickman428 for their contributions and appreciation for the SP2022. It'll be a coinflip I guess

You have two coins, so I will give two nominees. I'm in for PHPaul the strutting roostah from Maine, and 12131, the inimitable Q. There are few Members who are more generous with his humor and knowledge than PHPaul. He lives a life that is to be envied; cars, trucks, motorcycles, good family, interesting hobbies, veteran, funnyman, modeler, and all around bon vivant, all in the wilds of Prospect Harbor, Maine, where "colder than a welldiggers ass" is a warm day, and he relays tales of all of that to us with unfailing grace. 12131 is one of the most generous of all SigForum Members, outside of Para who provides this place and Dave Truong. I, and one of my friends, are recipients of his generous gun Karmas. I have a SigPro 2022 courtesy of his generosity and it is one of my favorite pistols. My friend, another Member here, owns his first SIG, a 229, as a gift from 12131. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . Yep, 12131 gets my nomination just to recognize his generosity and his knowledge of Sigs. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." hrcjon and P220 Smudge both went above and beyond answering my questions and giving information and recomendations in a suppressor thread I had.

I'd give the nod to Black92LX as he provides good insight to topics and perspectives that I wouldn't have considered otherwise.

My pick is sigmonkey. His contributions to the forum are innumerable, and are filled with both wit and wisdom. I could come up with hundreds, but here are just two examples:
But, IMO, sigmonkey's best post was when he photoshopped a member's SUV into the Dukes of Hazzard Gen. Lee car and that member went ballistic. I wish I would have saved that thread because I still laugh out loud when it comes to mind. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

Interesting twist for a karma. I would nominate Skins2881. He is always willing to share his expertise and has helped many members troubleshoot residential electrical issues. I have a background in industrial electrical and found myself stumped with an issue at my son's house. I reached out to him via e-mail(s) and he identified the issue and walked me through isolating the problem. “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

Good evening everyone— Thank you to all who participated in this Karma. Reading through these nominations honestly made my day. This is exactly why SIGforum is my favorite place to hang out. Alright… time to announce the TWO winners of the Sigforum challenge coins. My kids decided on the winners after reading all the responses. And the winners are: David Truong Dave is just flat-out ridiculously generous. The stories in this thread are the real deal—stepping up when someone needed help, helping a member’s neighbor get treated fairly in a rough situation, sending care packages downrange, helping when someone was out of work… and doing it quietly, without making it about him. On top of all that, he’s basically SIGforum’s official jeweler—the guy people trust when it actually matters. If you’ve been around here for any length of time, you’ve seen his name come up for a reason. appliancebrad Brad’s the guy a bunch of us have benefitted from—saving people from buying new appliances when a cheap fix will do, tracking down parts, steering folks away from junk… just consistently helping members out, over and over. He also makes a huge impact in his community by serving in and around local government & has for year. I get the impression Brad is the guy you would want as a neighbor. He makes a quiet, but huge impact all around him. Congrats to both of you. I will reach out via email to get the info I need to get them sent. They are both welcome to do what they like with their coins, no rules about that. And seriously—thanks again, everyone who contributed to this thread. This thread is a reminder of how solid this place is because of the people in it.
