Laura Ingraham announced on her show this evening that Senator Cory Gardner, R-CO, is threatening to hold all DOJ nominees, including judges, unless and until AG Sessions rescinds his policy on marijuana enforcement. Ordinarily, the objection of a single Senator can be gotten around, in a matter of time, but with only 51 possible votes, losing one can be a game ender. This message has been edited. Next time there is anguish about filling top posts in DOJ, or federal judges languishing in committee awaiting confirmation, we’ll know why. Seriously qualified candidates are loathe to get caught up in these games where only 3 things can happen and two of them are bad, your reputation diminished if not trashed, career prospects on indefinite hold while these goons play their stupid games, or maybe you are confirmed with the Veep breaking the tie. Not good. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Let's see. . . . swamp dweller from Colorado is opposed to Trump's standing on pot use, regulation. Given the state's handling/position on pot, this comes as no surprise to me. Well if Gardner wants to play hardball, couldn't the AG Sessions w/DOJ seize all that money? ...let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one. Luke 22:35-36 NAV "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves." Matthew 10:16 NASV

It’s the U. S. Senate. Ordinarily, he could bitch and moan all he wanted, his “holds” would be dealt with, and everyone would live happily ever after, but with the 1 vote margin, it gives each Senator leverage. I think we see how important, nay, critical, it is to have judicial nominees confirmed, those who are qualified anyway, this ploy becomes extremely dangerous, and might have ramifications beyond the pot business in Colorado. When Justice Kennedy turns in his resignation letter, if indeed he does so, you are going to see a high stakes games of “Let’s Make A Deal” like you have never seen before. I say good. Enough with this war on drugs horseshit that clearly doesn’t work. I thought we are supposed to be about states rights and smaller non-intrusive federal government. Maybe it’s the libertarian in me but sessions can go fuck himself in my book. _______________________________________________ Use thumb-size bullets to create fist-size holes.

What was that, exactly? The Attorney General’s oath says, “...... and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God, except for, of course, the promises I made to various Senators prior to confirmation.” Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. During the campaign Trump said that states should have the right to govern their own policies on medical and recreational marijuana use. He said it in a primary debate in Colorado. _______________________________________________ Use thumb-size bullets to create fist-size holes.

"In terms of marijuana and legalization, I think that should be a state issue, state-by-state," Trump said while taking a handful of questions during a political rally at a casino outside Reno on Thursday afternoon. https://www.washingtonpost.com...c=nl_daily202&wpmm=1 ______________________________________________ Aeronautics confers beauty and grandeur, combining art and science for those who devote themselves to it. . . . Cory is worried about mid-terms as well, and he should. If he is on the wrong side of this CO will end up with more dems in office (shudder).

That's a good point. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Thank you Very little |
All politicians have positions on hot topics, including Trump Based on a comment during the election, are there really members here who believe that President Trump should order Sessions to cease enforcing the laws of the country specifically as it relates to the enforcement of Federal Law regarding the illegal sale, use and growth of pot for residents of CO. Do we really have people that want a sitting President to ignore the law of the land, as long as he/she happens to believe those laws (which he stated should be in the hands of the states) are not in concert with his agenda, his parties agenda or his personal belief? This is the law of the land, like it, hate it, doesn't matter, but change it, write to congress, form a PAC, join a local pot's rights group, send them your money vs smoking it up and get POT removed as an illegal substance.

IIRC, Colorado was also an early adopter of making alcohol legal at the state level back during prohibition. We all know how that turned out. If they want to reverse course and enforce federal law...fine, but don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining. Gardner specifically asked Sessions during his confirmation hearings what his stance would be, and based on his current actions, he flat out lied.
