So I read today of a Michigan politician getting arrested for drunk driving. Her party affiliation is omitted from the article, so I can assume it is Democrat. It seems the main line media will freely publish "Republican" and "White" but when it is omitted ... https://abcnews.go.com/US/poli...am/story?id=68689368 Politician's 'super drunk' DWI arrest caught on police dashcam Other drivers called 911 to report the lawmaker's car swerving on the highway. By Christina Carrega - February 1, 2020 A Michigan lawmaker is in hot water after she was busted for allegedly driving on the highway "super drunk" the day after Christmas. Rep. Rebekah Warren, according ABC Detroit affiliate WXYZ, allegedly was seen by other drivers driving a black Jeep Cherokee that swerved along Interstate-75. When Auburn Hills police caught up to the vehicle, it appears to go off the shoulder and strike a guardrail, the video shows. Officers pulled over Warren and asked her to take a field sobriety test. She took six steps and stumbled, the video shows, and then was arrested. "You don't understand, I'm elected. I'm a senator. People will be, like, 'The senator got arrested,'" said Warren, as she was handcuffed in the back of the police car. "That'll be, like, [expletive bleeped]. This is going to be the most famous arrest you've ever made." "Do you understand, there's going to be a moment that we're both going to be on TV," Warren continued. "It's going to be, like, the senator from Ann Arbor's career is over. This is like career-ending for me." Warren, 49, was taken to a nearby hospital, where it was determined her blood alcohol content was more than double .08, the legal limit. Warren was charged under Michigan's "super drunk" law that took effect in 2010 and has stiffer penalties if she's convicted, WXYZ reported. A first-time offender convicted of driving while impaired faces punishments including up to $700 in fines, up to 180 days in jail, up to 360 hours of community service, a one-year driver's license suspension and six points on the driver's license, according to Michigan State Police. Vincent Haisha, an attorney for Warren, didn't respond to a request for comment from ABC News.

For most people, "double .08" takes 2 to 4 drinks to get to. It is absolutely too impaired to drive safely, but it isn't passed out on the floor drunk. According to this page, unconsciousness is likely with a BAC over 0.30 and over 0.40 carries a risk of coma and death. https://www.alcohol.org/effect...cohol-concentration/ In the small Texas towns where they publish the week's arrests in the weekly paper, DUI arrests with BAC over 0.3 are common and over 0.4 are not terribly unusual. The highest I recall seeing was 0.43.

And this is the problem with these damn politicians. They consider being an elected official a career. Maybe she should have used her nav radio, she was arrested on northbound I-75. Best part, 75 does not pass through or near Ann Arbor. Direction she was heading would have taken her to Flint. No worries, she will cry on camera, ask her voters for forgiveness, praise the police and the court system and get re-elected. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. I've seen a 4.3, the guy passed every sobriety test, and was having a normal lucid conversation. This guy was a frequent flier and if you ever caught him close to sober you'd swear he was hammered.... Stumbling, slurring, incoherent. Pretty sure she had more than a few glasses of wine.
