I have a probably 10 year old G-100 (5158) and the rubber band on it finally cracked through near the case. Looking for a replacement. Not particularly fond of the original plastic strap, but I can't complain about how long it lasted either. Is there a cloth or other more comfortable alternative?

One option is the adapter linked below, with a Zulu or NATO style band. I’ve never used a GSHOCK with one, but it has great reviews:

https://countycomm.com/collect...asio-g-shock-watches

I HIGHLY recommend the military style bands from their site. All their bands are great, but those can’t be beat for their simplicity and value. I’ve probably got a dozen of their military, Zulu, and NATOs.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

I have my 2005 Casio GW-5600BF-1JF solar-atomic watch on a Zulu strap using a pair of converters / adapters.
The brand I got is no longer made but if memory serves Jays and Kays makes exactly the same style these days as are those from CountyComm cited above.

Just make sure the adapters you get are designed to work with your watch.

Never much liked Casio factory straps. Big Grin

Sits nicely on my wrist.

If seeking a new watch, please know that the aforementioned GW-5600 is a discontinued model. Check out the GW-M5610.

Got shuffled to back burner, but I found a "kit" on Amazon last weekend. New band was $8 for a Zulu strap and adapters. . Definitely more comfortable than the original rubber strap.

If you ever decide to go back to a standard Casio strap look for one for the GW-5000 watch. It is made out of a different material than the standard G-shocks. More rubbery and pliable. I have a GW-5000 and find the strap very comfortable.

A word of caution on the cloth straps. If you work in an environment where you sweat a lot, in my experience it will STINK. My G shock came with the factory canvas strap and it has been replaced with a rubber one from Amazon.

If this happens, what I do is take a shower with it on and just soap up the strap. If that doesn’t work, I’ve also soaked a black NATO strap in straight bleach with no color loss. I was amazed - just a cheapie from Amazon and it and out looking and smelling brand new. I figured it would turn gray or navy, but nope.

I run my nylon NATO strap through the clothes washer with my clothes every few days. Comes out fresh as a daisy.

I have the Jays & Kays version of adapter for my mudmaster, and like it very much. Mine uses the 2 piece straps, though I think you can use either one with it.

As to stinky wristbands, tis true, but I keep it on in the shower every few showers and scrub it up too, and it stays non funky.

There was a thread on replacements a while ago:

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.
