Well, crap. I was hoping for a retro looking Wagoneer.

However...I'm really pleased right now that I'm very impatient and super-impulsive since I spent all my money on ordering a new Gladiator Mojave!

JEEP usually steps on their own ass when they get outside the Wrangler box. Even when they stay inside that box, sometimes.

I hate it when a car company tries to take an icon that helped build their brand and "Re-Invision" it for a new generation. They forget that the generation that grew up riding in the back, and has all the childhood memories are the ones that are going to want to (and get excited) about buying one. Has anyone priced out one of the old Grand Wagoneer's? Holy shit, they are $70-100k for one that has been restored. And people are paying it. Who's buying them, Gen X. We have the money, we have the memories, we are JEEPS target. So why they want to shit on us, I can't imagine.

Then they drop these turds on us and think we will all be lining up to buy something that has no heritage to the original. Take what you had that was a winner, and just update it for today. Don't "Re-invision" it, because it was already a winner.

At least Ford got the Bronco right. They very well could have failed horribly, but they managed to get as close as could be expected to make the Bronco happen.

Actually, I think Jeep took a page from the current Ford playbook....Build what you want people to buy instead of what they're telling you they want to buy. Ford played bait and switch for over five years before finally building a new US based Ranger, and then shafted us out of a Raptor version of it while selling one in overseas markets. Then Ford recently got one upped by the RAM TRX because they've refused for years to offer a high output V8 in the F150 Raptor (i.e. what their customers have requested/demanded). And the Bronco is still an unknown as no production Broncos are out yet, but without any doubt, Ford shined all of us on for years before they finally offered up a rolling Bronco.

RAM has done an exceptional job listening to customers and building a RAM truck that meets their needs/wants, but Jeep obviously ignored RAM's success and went the opposite direction.

Like there's not enough high end sport utilities on the market already. It will probably enjoy the same success the Commander did.

I can't wait to see the Rubicon edition.

In that price range I would buy a lux Euro any day. This a Jeep, not a MB, or BMW, or Range Rover. No history as a competitor in the ultra lux market. And resale on this thing will be a disaster. Play taps for it now and avoid the rush. OMG, what were they thinking. It’s not too late to send it to the scrap pile.

Look at how many ROXOR's Mahindra is (was) selling.
Jeep comes out with this thing. Roll Eyes

Jeep's not allowing them to sell a product that they themselves don't sell anymore, all while their similar products get farther and farther away from every model year.

It just occurred to me. I wonder if someone will put one of these on a 12" lift and 50" tires for the SEMA show.

And consider this for comparison purposes. A new Mercedes-Benz GL550 is around $80-$90k. Simply an awesome vehicle. If I were in the market for a high end SUV with a pedigree, I'd buy one of those every day of the week and twice on Sunday before I considered dropping $100k on this Jeep. Again, I just don't get what Jeep was thinking when they put this design together.

I recently picked up a 2020 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the 5.7L Hemi and have been very pleased. But even the GC is due for a redesign in the 2022 model year and by all accounts it’s losing some of its off road prowess for on road refinement. So I was not surprised by the Grand Wagoneer bling, but am upset that Jeep is moving away from the off road segment unless you’re committed to the Wrangler.

Completely agree. I was in full-on sarcasm mode with that comment.

They built a soccer mom padded bus. Hell, even the promo video shows the thing slowly battleshipping around smooth paved roads.

The roughest road this thing will see is a ski mountain parking lot.

They should have slapped a roof and a third row on the RAM 1500. A few cosmetic tweaks and called it a day.
