For decades, a proton’s radius was believed to measure 0.88 femtometers, but it has just been discovered that the correct measurement is 0.84 femtometers.

I just thought that you'd want to know.

I will rest easy tonight knowing that. I cannot tell you how many times I have laid in bed, unable to sleep, knowing .88 could not be correct.

I’d like to see that myself. Sub-atomic particles are fuzzy objects, rather than solid little spheres. Quantum uncertainty.

Does this affect the 88MPH/1.21 Gigawatts theorem of time travel in any way? I don't want to travel to the Titanic to divert course only to find out I'm already under water.

Well that explains the recent correction to Jupiter's size. NASA found that Jupiter's radius is actually 71,488 km instead of the long believed 71,492 km.

I harbor no negative feelings about this change. It isn't repulsive to correct errors, and in fact is positively an attractive quality.

I've heard we all shrink with age?

Also Join1440.com isn't an actual scientific journal/reference site, so I'm holding out hope that this viscous rumor is inaccurate.

Wiki may have shortcomings, but at least they cite references. And from those, you are behind by 16, 7 or 4 years depending on your determination point.

So, not news at all, didn't everyone know this? Razz
