Tonight's news commented that as crazy as it sounds, just 24 hours after hitting a record 104℉ at the airport and 102℉ downtown, we're talking a winter weather advisory! Note the Tuesday forecast high is now just 33℉. Low will be in the twenties! And yes frost in the foothills and plains with snow in the higher elevations. Roll Eyes

I compressed the hourly spread to show days.

Unfortunately, it's not going to affect us as much as initially predicted.

A week or so ago, they were calling for highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s starting mid-week. Now they've recently revised that to highs in the upper 70s and lows in the 60s.

Damn. No big cooldown here. And I unpacked my jackets and hoodies for nothing.

It’s nuts we were in the Badlands yesterday it was 107 windy and felt like a blast furnace. Now I will have to fill up the fresh water tank and unhook the hoses and drain the refrigerator water line. Elv 3419

Leaves are changing here from drought. If it wasn't for the derecho, I would think the derecho would have hit farmers as well. Our grass is so dry if you look at it long enough it bursts into flames. I was working on tearing out our deck yesterday in the 90s and I got heat rash on my chest and back and I am pretty sure I was getting heat exhaustion when I came inside. Today was even hotter with strong winds, it felt like being in a convection oven. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be lower 70s so I took the day off to reconvene work tomorrow.

Interesting fact: Spearfish, SD (not too far from the OP) holds the world record for the fastest temperature change, when temps went from -4F to 45F in 2 minutes, on Jan 22, 1943 ( Wikipedia). I love the Black Hills, but I have definitely experienced some crazy weather there.

Absolutely. Smile And ever so often this factoid about Spearfish is included on the local news as a reminder of the fact that no matter what the weather is now, it can and WILL change pretty damn quick in these parts! LOL Big Grin

The Weathr Channel showing some impressive early snowfalls and low temperatures for the Front Range, where most of you posting are located.

I asked about the elevation part, it's just strange to me the higher elevations compared to where I live (600') elevaton. To get to 5,000' in Virginia, you would have to be on Mt.Mitchell.

Last year, we had a severe drought spell from August to November. Absolutely no rain fell, and higher than usual temperatures that stayed hotter into the nights.

I've noticed many oak trees have died recently, which I think is a result of last fall's drought.

My Colorado mountain spot is "only" around 8000ft, with a view of Mt. Evans and more.

But you can drive to the top of Mt. Evans, on a paved road, to above 14,000ft (one of our 58 peaks that tall).
