We got a LiftMaster 8550W after reading about suggestions here. Absolutely love it. Paired well with our cars, and works great in general. Ours has the battery backup, motion sensing opener pad (really nice feature so your garage is illuminated automatically), MyQ and an outdoor opener. Our old Martin was problematic with the sun and certain times of day, no problem with this unit. We did splurge on this upgrade but it has been well worth it.

I have three of these and they work perfectly. Only complaint is they do NOT work with the Chamberlain MyQ system or any other allowing remote notification and control. For that reason I'd pick a Chamberlain or Liftmaster if I was replacing.

My absolute junk Genie has been working flawlessly for more than 24 years. We use it multiple times every day.

maxwayneI have a Hormonn. It runs off DC and is the quietest opener I have ever had.

Bought my house brand new with a Genie opener.
First unit died around 1 year later. 2nd unit that replaced it died 6 months after that. 3rd unit died 3 years after that one.
Bought a Chamberlain and its been perfect since then.

sig2392I had a genie screw drive that gave up the ghost after about 15 years.
I was busy so I called an installer this time.
He put in a Chamberlain with wifi belt drive. It's only a few months old so I have no idea about it's durability.
Works great, I also have no regrets on the Genie.
Got my monies worth.

StorminNorminMy old chain opener bit the dust so I replaced it with a belt driven Liftmaster I can control remotely with an app and a wireless keypad. It is such an improvement. Very quite and also has battery backup to function during a power outage.

Angus the KidJust a quick update, the new belt is installed and the opener is chugging along. It was a relatively easy install, took about an hour.

Oz_ShadowI recently learned Clopay makes a reinforced opener mounting bracket. I found this out after mine ripped out of the door after a number of years.
