Loved Michelin motorcycle tires, but couldn't stand them on my Jeep. Wore great, but terrible traction in pretty much all conditions.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I'm at the point where Michelins are the only tires I'll buy. They last way longer than advertised and perform.

I have a 2001 ES300 and had VERY good experience with Pirelli P7s. All season tires.

Have you tried the comparisons available on the Tirerack website:
We found (39) tires for: 1999 Lexus ES300

https://www.tirerack.com/tires...ng=H&minLoadRating=S

Nothing against the Michelin, but the Pirelli
P4 Four Seasons Plus seems to also be a good option for your car.

I find reviews of tires anecdotal at best. If you've ever read the reviews on Tire Rack, pick any tire. Two guys say that tire is wonderful in all respects, the next guy says it's the biggest POS he ever put on his car. Looks like the same here.

Yea and for different reasons too. Like one guy is commenting on wet traction, the other on tread life.

I wish they had some objective metrics like coefficients of friction, hyrdoplaning speed, g-force for known curve/speed, and such. Otherwise, the only thing that makes some sense are the test numbers (scale up to 10).

I will say that the Premiers seemed compelling except for the initial tread depth (8/32" vs the 12/32" for the Turanza?). But the Turanza being a known quantity (at least good enough) and on sale made the call this time. Otherwise, I would have debated the tread depth a little more - seems like better traction at the cost of hydroplaning earlier in its life.

I'll look at Pirelli again - I've used Pirelli and Yokohama and Dunlop before as well - disappointed in them (same as Michelin) which is what drove me to Bridgestone (the S02) initially (30 years ago).

I made a decision like that to buy a pair of Hankook Ventus V2 Concept tires that I got a great sale price on. I've been happy with them.

I've had good luck with Michelin Pilot Super Sports on a 911. They are ultra high performance rated and only for wet/dry but not cold weather/snow. Mileage about 30K, great traction, decent ride. Maybe $1100 or so from Tire Rack.

We are very pleased with the Yokohama Geolander A/T-S we put on my wife's Sequoia. Hers are a heavier duty passenger car tire (not LT). A bit cheaper than equivalent Michelins and are wearing very well. Very nice ride, too. She drives so little we'll probably never find out the miles we get from them.

I prefer them over other premium brands. Never had any issue and i typically can expect 70k miles out of them on F250. Thats exactly what theyre rated. Usually buy them at Sams Club.

Michelin Defenders on our Honda Odyssey have been terrible. Only 2.5yrs old wearing way too fast, we typically get 5-6 years out of tires easily. Best I had were Michelin Hydroedge 90K mile tires and I got 120K miles out of them...no longer made.

I've had Michelin's on several vehicles and have been very happy with them. If you can ever get close enough to Air Force 1 or Air Force 2 you will find nitrogen-filled Michelin tires - a whole bunch
of them!

that pretty much goes for any source of online reviews IME.

and let's face it - some people are morons who misuse products or just plain use the product outside it's intended purpose and then complain.

i do look for outliers on the bell curve though

I have been happy with Primacy MXM4s on my Lexus GS350. No issues - get them at Costco when they are running specials.

My choice for all round use on my Tiguan. I do not want tires that last 60 or 80 thousand miles as traction is usually sacrificed. Michelin has been my choice for 40 years.
