Just seeing if anyone else is kinda weird with laundry like me:

-socks and underwear are washed inside-out
-jiu jitsu wear is washed separately
-regular gym wear is washed with regular clothes
-washcloths and towels are washed together, separate from clothing

Am I the only weirdo who does this?

Never fabric softener unless washing instructions call for it.

Everything gets a double rinse.

Mostly all my clothes get washed together. Cotton, nylon, work, gym, socks, underwear. All together. I will try to pull out wool socks before they go in the dryer and let them hang dry.

Towels with towels and sometimes sheets.

I will throw it all together depending on what and how much I have.

Your not alone, but I'm not with you on this one. I played Mr. Mom with 3 kids and a working wife when not on shift. The machine got stuffed, added some detergent, and pushed start. When done all of it, didn't care about girly under garments, other delicate, into dryer, high heat, and repeat. Wife and I are empty nesters now, smaller load, I will pull out her bras now, but everything goes together. Except when bleach is needed.

When the dirty clothes pile gets bigger than the clean clothes pile it's time to do a load of laundry.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I just sort by how it'll end up in dryer so I can use the autodry settings without cooking something
  • synthetic fiber underwear, shirts, shorts, etc
  • button up shirts and dockers
  • cotton shirts, shorts, pants, and black socks
  • white socks and white wash cloths
  • towels
  • bedding
  • reds - to be fair, I haven't bought anything new red in a while (i.e. old enough where it won't tranfer colors) and probably should combine with above

Socks and skivvies together and not turned inside out. Who has time for that?

    Towels, washcloths together.

    T-Shirts and other shirts.

    Jeans.

Colors matter not. They all get tossed in together and washed in hot water.

I only separate by bleach vs color-safe bleach.

Otherwise, I wash everything together using hot water.

I usually turn socks inside out per Darn Tough recommendation but not obsessive about it.

Well, I don't go quite THAT far (and I'm the Laundry Bitch in this house) but:

Sheets separately because warm vs. hot water and no softener sheet in the dryer. Also because done on Monday. Hung out on the "solar powered dryer" weather permitting.

Towels/washcloths (both bath and kitchen) separately because warm vs. hot and no softener.

Everything else in one batch, hot water, softener sheet in the dryer.

Exception to everything else: Really REALLY nasty pants/shirts from me working on stuff. Done on "heavy soil" cycle, sometimes twice.

Rarely ever use bleach, ALWAYS use Arm & Hammer sensitive/perfume free detergent.

Washer and Dryer both Speed Queens with little or no "automation". Set the dial, turn the sumbitch on, walk away.

The procedures are complicated but entirely necessary. Darks in warm water with Pods or powdered detergent. Whites in cold water with liquid detergent and bleach. Shirts are turned inside out, and nothing is dried on high heat.

My wife taught me years ago that is something goes in the wash inside out I’d get it back inside out. I put stuff in the basket and it appears in my dresser and closet.

That is not good for your clothes and will wear and fade them out way faster than normal. I use cold water for everything but whites like underwear and undershirts which get washed in hot.

I separate whites from colors and always use an oxyclean pod with whites. I do my white sheets separately too.

Sometimes I will turn my socks inside out.

Lesson learned: Never use the 'Normal' setting on the washer as it uses minimal water and doesn't really rinse out the soap.

Pile em all together then sort by
    Pants
    Shirts
Everything else goes into the shirt or pants pile w/e is smaller

Whites get done with the white towels
So only 3 loads a week

The teen sometimes mixes his into ours otherwise he does his own laundry

Soap goes in first then clothes. Adjust water to height and it’s always cold water

Gun cleaning gadgets like Bore Snakes, old toothbrushes, blue cotton shop cloths, etc., go in one of those mesh lingerie bags, and might be included with the rest of the extremely soiled yard work clothing.

Any T shirts or others with printing or embroidered badges get turned inside out to preserve them.

Yardwork clothing with beggarweed seeds, Spanish Needles, fire ants, tree ants, Brazilian Pepper seeds, ground wasps, etc. get the extra long presoak, hot temperature and double rinse settings, which seems to lessen the problem of them showing up in every subsequent washload.

I usually have three separate washes:
White & light colors, along with underwear go into Warm wash.
All other colors go into Cold wash.
All bedding and towels go into a separate Warm wash.

If there's unique items like heavily soiled, delicates or outdoor gear, they get their own wash.

I put everything together warm wash, cold rinse.

I would only separate if something is new, bright color, likely to bleed color, or something is excessively dirty, oil & such.

    It works for me.
