Ex-boyfriend tries to break in, gets killified by dad
A stranger trying to break into your house while you are clearly inside it is dangerous enough to justify shooting them; they are obviously prepared to do you harm. Why would it be any different for someone that knows you? The asshole was clearly a danger to not only his ex, but the entire family. Completely justified.

Or wandered into the roadway and drained out there.

Good shooting and the best possible outcome

Back in the 1970s my cousin broke up with her boyfriend. Admittedly, she was extremely beautiful; like the skateboard girl in the Free Fallin’ music video. Her boyfriend went nuts and tried the same thing. My uncle chased him off the property with a rifle. Where he made his mistake is he shot at the boy’s escaping truck. At least one round killed the ex boyfriend. The fallout was that my uncle lost his dental practice, his family and his freedom for almost 30 years. Even when he got out, he was never the same. He and my aunt did restore their marriage but the children have moved on. My cousin is still beautiful.

or, I can't believe it the little shit broke in threatened my daughter, shot him inside the house, he then turned, ran-stumbled outside, and fell right there...

Unless a video shows, ballistics prove, or a passerby tells otherwise, then you're screwed. I'd tell the truth.

Though the shooting was entirely justified, the refusal by his family to accept the facts in evidence is understandable and their attempts to defend him and to honor his memory are not surprising.

They set up a facebook page for him, which shows how much in denial they are. However, just because they cannot or will not accept the truth, this does not give people the right to post cruel remarks on the page setup by his family. What is the point of making such remarks to people who lost a son?

He was wrong, he broke the law and threatened the safety of others and he got what he deserved, but the people who are anonymously taunting the family should be ashamed of themselves and they ought to be bitch-slapped into next week.

There is a Facebook page for James Rayl set up by his sister. On every post she makes, she is getting dogpiled. She stopped making posts in January, but all the comments on her posts are gold!

“I used to be totally into Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and other shredders, and I tried to emulate what they did and really grow as a guitarist,” Mr. Hanneman said in “Louder Than Hell.” “Then I said, ‘I don’t think I’m that talented, but more important, I don’t care.’ ”

In my humble opinion, the dad showed either a great deal of restriant or that he only had three rounds loaded... I would have pulled that trigger until it went click.

No one knows that young man's intent and his persistance in breaking down the door only leads to nefarious intentions.

What is the point of being cruel to his family? One may say "Look, your brother (or son) was completely in the wrong and he was essentially asking to get shot." Based upon the evidence, this is true, and the fault for his death is his own.

The parents of this guy didn't try to break down a door and do God knows what; neither did his sister. Based upon the photograph of the three of them holding up signs which defy the truth of the matter, and based upon the facebook page they created, it's obvious they are in complete denial, but they didn't break down anyone's door. Why be cruel to these people? What purpose does it serve to taunt them?

Perhaps there are additional details of which I am unaware.

Because they are the type of animals who cannot recognize the pain their failure caused the victim's family.

The victims will never feel the same. They may not be able to feel safe in their house, etc.

The animals produced a beast, and it was destroyed.

If they were decent people, they would not protest the death of the beast.

It is too bad this happened. Young men, affected by love or hormones, have been know to make foolish choices. Too bad he chose poorly enough to make a mistake you don’t survive rather than one you learn from.

As far as his family, I haven’t read what his sister wrote. I can sympathize with people hurting for the loss of a loved one and wanting to honor his memory. I’d hate to see them try to throw shade on the father who protected his family though.

In grade school , clear back in the 1900's,
We had a class that taught us some etiquette, some social parameters , a few do's and some don't's,

How to treat women, our elders , even total strangers.
Deportment in general ,
I am wondering, at what time that became unimportant?
Social skills , another important part of a "civilized" Society that neither the parents or schools offer kids anymore.

Good God, will you listen to yourself? You're behaving as if you have an in-depth knowledge of these people. You don't.

The deadbolt strike plate was anchored with 3" screws into what looks like a metal 2x4. Interesting and surprising that the guy was able to break that.
