If you're looking for something discreet, I'd recommend checking out Vanquest or Mystery Ranch bags. I’ve used them before, and they have a nice balance of style and functionality without looking too tactical. They’re perfect for carrying a laptop, some gear, and even a handgun without drawing attention. I love how they have plenty of pockets for snacks and a water bottle too, so you’re not left rummaging around. Just make sure the size works for your MacBook Air, but they’ve been pretty comfortable for me overall!

I have been using a Swiss gear laptop bag for a couple of decades.

It is really beat up but it can easily carry two laptops and a p365, cables two small docking stations wallet keys headphones and anything else I need to have for a business trip.

If I need to carry more I take a small Samsonite wheeled laptop case instead. It just fits under an airline seat.

If the goal is to blend-in, then you're gonna need to find a bag/pack that is more common and doesn't have any stand-out features. If you're ultimately looking to appear like a Greyman, a smart traveler or, just an adult that's not using a shoulder bag but a regular laptop pack brands like North Face, Jansport, Tumi, Briggs + Riley, Thule, etc...you won't get a second look from anyone. All of those brands speak to someone willing to invest in their bag but, isn't such a standout that's its so unique to the rest of the population.

For some smaller brands that aren't so branding focused, look at Peak Design, Aer, Able Carry, Tortuga, Evergoods. Most of these brands are founded by designers who've worked for those previously mentioned bigger brands but, are striking-out on their own.

I have a spare laptop shoulder bag you can have.

I can't post a pic, but if you send me an email (eddress in profile), I can send one once I get home.

I'm in the market for a new laptop backpack for work. I see a lot of SwissGear backpacks between my coworkers and meetings with competitors. SwissGear is definitely on my short list as everyone speaks highly of them.

For the OP, check out this laptop backpack that has the hidden shoe compartment (i.e. looks perfect for hidden pistol):

Here’s what I use. Added a soft armor panel (steel plate was too heavy and obvious at 8 lbs). Works well and is my airplane carryon without any problems. Shoulder straps could have better grip, but very low visibility off body carry.
