I was eating lunch at John's on Bleeker St, when he was in a booth cracking everybody up with his off-the-cuff comedy. The best coal-fired pizza in the city w/ free entertainment to boot.

Does anyone remember what Gilbert did to get himself fired from being the voice on the AFLAC commercials?

He went on a comedic rant about the earthquake in Japan and the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Oh my God... AHAHAHAHA!!!!

Para I had such a fucked up day at work. That first video killed me. I’m on the porch drinking and smoking a cigar. I was laughing so hard that my wife came out here to see what was wrong. Thank you! Big Grin

His voice was part of his schtick. His normal voice was . . . well . . . normal.

There is a clip on YouTube where he is talking to Stern off-air in his regular voice.

This was the first time I saw Gilbert Gottfried. Saturday Night Live, February 14, 1981.

This sketch, unfunny though it is, has stuck with me over the years, so much so that if I am trying to evade a point my wife is making, I'll shout in a thick country accent "You best jus' stop accusin' me, 'cos I ain't been a-nowhar and I ain't been doin' nothin'!"

Charles Rocket, and Gilbert Gottfried as Cooter.

"Where's Cooter?"

Wildly funny and outrageous. I literally slipped out of my chair listening to him read Fifty Shades of Gray shortly after its release. Glad to see it in this thread, and it's still hilarious.

Like Don Rickles, under the facade you sensed a really nice guy it would be fun to have a beer with.

Sadly he leaves behind a wife and two young kids.

I happened upon this. Obviously the audience was not prepared for Gilbert, the "cringe" was epic, which only made me laugh harder !

^^^^^^^^^^^

That was fantastic! Some highlights …

8:30 Wow, he had balls that’s for damn sure.

8:58 Pam Anderson was obviously not amused at being a punchline…which is probably why he did it again a few minutes later

18:05 Has anyone but Gilbert made 9/11 jokes? (This time period features Trump in his “The Apprentice” days.
