Does anyone have a source for non-carb compliant spout 2/2.5 gal cans? Or replacement spouts? While I'm "over there" Mrs. M-11 will need to refill the lawn tractor and can't lift the 5gal or manipulate the "easy" (HA!) save us from ourselves snowflake spouts. Thanks.

The 5L Wavian NATO style can is on sale again at Atlantic British. www.roverparts.com They also have a 10L version if you want a 2.5 gal size, and of course the full size NATO can.

Expensive? Yes.
Worth every penny? Absolutely.

These are made in Latvia by the same contractor that makes them for the military. Not some low quality Chinese imitations.

Amazon sells replacement spouts for "water cans". I'm told if you're a scofflaw they will fit other containers. They even include a vent to retrofit.

$25 and $30 (respectively) isn't even that expensive really. By the time you pay $8 for a plastic can and $10 for a spout that work, $26 is pretty reasonable. Thanks for that link, I need to replace my two small cans anyway.

If one already has a californicated plastic can, the replacement spout is pretty cheap.

I had the same problem to solve but needed a spill proof can due to carrying in on an atv. Tractor Supply has a 2.5 gal no spill can with a push button spout that is easy to operate which solved my problem.

Easy for you and me, but SWMBO needs 1. uncap 2. pour 3. re-cap. And with limited upper body strength 2.5 gal is probably her limit. Thanks for the suggestions and links, all. The Wavian look good for my use, though.

Of course, it's hit and miss. If you need it now, this is not an option. But I value the simpler, older type 2.5 gallon cans and I've picked them up for a couple of bucks.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I am a big fan of Justrite Type 2 safety cans. No CARB crap, available in 1, 2.5, and 5 gallon sizes, and in different colors for the different fuels (red-gasoline, yellow-diesel, blue-kerosene, and green-oils). Not the cheapest ones around, but will last forever and are a breeze to use. They will spill far less than any CARB spout.

Here's a 2.5 gallon red can:

I became a Wayvian fan about a year ago. Had trouble with the magic CalTrans/DOT wonder spout, so they sent me an old style marvelous actually works replacement.

The 5L can is a bit heavy when full. The spout requires an easy owner-operator 'insert here & push the attachment' lever but does NOT leak.

The market in this area for used gas containers has few actually serviceable examples, most leak for one reason or another.

I have a small collection of reclaimed-from-yard sale vintage metal cans of 2 1/2 gallons, yet each has their own peculiar user-needs to operate without drip.

That round can on Amazon looks good too.

Pour great and have been worth the money. I've got 2 of the 5 gallon models and my wife has no problem with them when they're less than full.

here's a 2 1/2 gallon

Several years back on a trip up to Canada I bought a pair of diesel cans for my then new Kubota tractor. They looked exactly like the GI Jerry cans, but yellow.

Also bought a spigot kit. NOT cheap like $45 a can. But they have held up and do not leak.

The entire "No leak" cans and spigot debacle...Yet another screw up from our Government. Few things have pissed me off over the years, more than the compliant cans and spouts. Typical Government deal...take a non problem and turn it INTO a problem and at probably great cost to taxpayers for the study.

Fill the 5 gallon can with 2.5 gallons, leaving 2.5 gallons of empty space, the weight of the 5 gallon can will be the same as a 2.5 gallon can and you will have saved the cost of the new can....

For general information:
maybe mine is defective, got a ONE gallon version of this with my Mantis a few years ago.

The can is pure trash from the first use.

Better to keep it full so that there is less space for the volatile gases to get off too. Gas will last longer. Also, the GI cans from Atlantic British are excellent, do not fill them so that the space for air on top is gone. That's to give a smidgen of air space to expand and contract. I have some of the 2.5 gal for my kid to fill up her scooter with non-ethonol gas. They are perfect. Buy the spout with the gas can from them, the stuff posted upthread will not work with them.

I have one of those. I think the 2.5 gallon. It works for me. Although the short straight nozzle is kind of awkward, at least it doesn't leak like the other junk I've had.

Yeah, I have several and they’ve all been great.
