Yes. I purchased the GELG brand (versus Wavian) after the hurricane last year. I took a full can on a road trip to Asheville and back and never once smelled the slightest hint of vapor. Very satisfied with the seal.

The spots that come with them are shit, get a flexible spout.

I detest the newer ‘EPA’ type cans and spouts. I’ve never seen as much fuel spilled with as when using them. Does the EPA know this?

Anyhow, my cans are older or modified. Those replacement spouts are fine, but new cans will normally have threads where they won’t fit properly. They work fine with old cans.

If I was to buy a brand new EPA can, I would end up gutting the spout in some fashion. I like to add an air vent in back too.

VP Racing cans on Amazon are my choice. It fits your need - unscrew the cap, pour, screw cap back on. Come in 5 gallon and 3 gallon size. The spout is separate, about $6, the 3 gal can is $28 or so. Expensive, yes. Frustration free - ABSOLUTELY.

Checked over at the house, the only 2) 3 gallon jugs that I have are both full of all kinds of gas.

I guess I will have to get a couple more at the garage sales.

this topic comes up twice a year , every year.

question is, how do I ship them ?( even if they are empty ) if they have had gas in them , they are going to smell

This right here. I have a dozen of the 5 gallon units and they worth every penny. I bought mine at Buc-ee's (a Texas gas station chain). I think I've seen them at Bass Pro Shops too.

Those sure do look handy, but at $40 a pop for a 2-1/2 gal. can, and $50 for the 5 gal., I don't think I'm going to be rushing out and replacing all my gas cans with them any time soon Wink

However, after spilling fuel twice, yesterday, filling the hedge trimmers, I may replace my old 2-1/2 gal. can with one of them. Maybe today.

Everything else I can easily fill with any of my old unsafe/un-environmentally-friendly gas cans.

Picked up a 2 gallon and a one gallon Eagle Type II for gas and mixed respectively.

http://eagle-mfg.com/catalog/s...-ii-safety-cans.aspx

They work very well for the past three seasons. No more spilled gas. I like the type II over the Type I as it has a vent in the back and seems to “chug” less. Easy to use just pull the handle and tip the vent and main valve open with the same Movement.

I got two of these in five gallon when I could no longer get the old style. I was angry at being lumbered with another crap solution to a non-problem thanks to moronic CA government. Surprisingly, they have worked great. You only take the whole cap off to fill. For pouring, just remove the dust cover on the end of the spout and push the button. Stops quickly when you release the button too. I’m still P.O.’d at the moronic CA government, but these work better than the blitz plastic “cans” that they replaced.

Right after Hurricane Katrina , my wife brought home a " six pack " of 5 gallon gas cans with the old style nozzles . Gas cans were in short supply and since she worked at Lowe's , she grabbed them when they came off of the truck . I still have two " new " ones out in the shed . The one I'm using now is in great shape so I figure I'm good till I die .
