Roku took a dump on me by stopping their support of the LT models.
I ordered a refurb Roku Premier Plus and it was jacked up so it went back. I opted for a 3rd Gen FireTv since it was $30 cheaper than the nonrefurbed Roku (did not want to go that route again) after the bad one).
I have a 1st Gen FireTv that has been great so I went that way. The FireTV arrived just under a week ago and has been running great. Very happy with my $69 FireTV that I am actually paying for in 5 monthly payments (no interest) because that was the option that clicked through somehow.
Well guess what is Amazon’s deal of today??? Yup, Amazon FireTV for $49.
Reached out to Amazon about the substantial price drop and they stuck a $20 credit on my account.
Guess what I’ll be buying when Roku stops suppprting the Roku3 I have in the living room.
Yup, another Amazon FireTV.

Amazon wouldn't help me out at all on 2 separate issues of price drop over night. Their answer was send it back on my dime and rebuy ...thus No savings worth the hassle.
I'm doing all I can to never buy from them again.

I would say Amazon has been fair with me regarding returns and issues.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Amazon has gone way beyond what I expect from a retailer to retain my business.

I wish all businesses treated me the way Amazon does.

Yep, they used to refund me the difference every time. Last couple times they actually told me sorry for your luck. I informed them that I would return the item (on their shipping dime and with their box, free for me, at cost to them) and they said don't care. So thats what I did. I returned the more expensive item and then bought it again at the current discounted price. Pretty stupid on their part, because now they are out an extra $10-12 in shipping cost that was totally unnecessary had they just adjusted the price. These being shipped and sold by Amazon products, not 3rd party.

That's probably because of the customer service rep and not any Amazon Policy. Some reps are either poorly trained or they just don't care. Of course Amazon probably brings it on themselves because of the way they treat their employees in the first place.

Amazon has been great to deal with. I bought a product, not expensive by anyones standard, that I thought through my simple mindedness, was faulty. They said keep it and we will refund your $12. Awesome.

A few days later I figured out what I was doing wrong. I emailed them back and told them the product was fine and to please charge me for the item. They declined and said thank you for your honesty and please keep it as their way of saying thank you for being a good customer.

On a recent vacation, I spent some time with an Amazon employee...pretty high up.

The service you get can be related to your “profile”...and your profile spits our a score.

Yup, everyone has a score.

He wasn’t sure of everything that went into it...but it exists.

My guess is they are trying to clear them out to make way for the FireTV Cube.
Not a fan of the cube. Alexa remote it one thing where the voice search has to be activated. The Cubs is just on or muted though many have said stuff is heard when muted.

They have failed to deliver prime items to me on time 5 times in the past month (3 or more days late) and I have had 2 furniture items not get delivered at all. (A mattress and a chair) which the shipper was blamed for, but I am still waiting for resolution.

Amazon clarified in 2016 that they've never had a matching policy, other than on televisions. While they have done it in the past, it's apparently been out of an abundance of customer service not a policy.

I don't understand the hand wringing. What other retailer, internet or otherwise, is going to give this sort of match for 30 days? Or any time? I think I can take responsibility for my own go/no-go decision on pricing and timing to buy without that safety net. Sure it was nice if offered, but why would I be entitled to that?

Article with interview

Their service to me has always been over the top, with or without a price match. It should be easy for Haveme to accomplish the stated objective - just don't go to their site ever and enjoy paying more for unreliable delivery and typically hassle-y returns at any other site.

I have had 3 or so in the past couple months and watching the tracking it was most certainly the fault of the USPS. Each time I have gotten a $3 credit.

Even with the extended shipping time it is still faster than a lot of things.
I ordered a router from elsewhere last week it is not scheduled to arrive until Monday the 18th.

I don’t disagree with you on Amazons CS. It is top notch but Best Buy and Wal-Mart both offer 30 price adjustments.
I have a Citibank credit card that has a 3 month price match offer. Not sure exactly how it works because I rarely use the card but I bought something once and a month or so later sent me an email stating they found it cheaper and credited my account.

Amazon has always been more than fair with me.

However...

Their ugly side has been showing, lately, with their dispute with Google and their putting their customers in the middle. This is causing me to re-evaluate Amazon and their increasing dominance. Thus I'm buying from elsewhere, now, every chance I get.

And we may drop Amazon Prime when it comes up for renewal in a year, being as, as a result of the aforementioned dispute, we won't be able to watch AP Video, any more, anyway.

Out of curiosity how have you been put in the middle.
Only reason I knew there was a dispute is the YouTube app no longer worked.
So I just open it up in the Firefox browser which defaults to the YouTube page anyway.
