Nancy Pelosi missed her opportunity yesterday. It doesn't matter how big the bailout was going to be, she and Schumer wanted more.
Now, with the announcement of Open-Ended QE, Including Corporate Bonds, there may be no deal for a direct bailout.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Try buying precious metals now. Oh the prices look great, but NOBODY seems to have any for sale. Measly fractional silver aside, and even then the premiums are ridiculous relative to current bid/ask.

Buy on the dips is always the mantra, but I guess it only works if the other person is willing to sell.

See, I do believe that they have inventory but they are listing it as out of stock. They paid more for it than they can sell it for right now, so they took it off the table until prices come back up.

Just my theory, but I do think I'm right.

Well, I pulled the trigger on XOM today at $31.50 in my wife's 401k account. She'll be 40 this year, so we're in it for the long haul. Time will tell I guess. The money has been in a money market account since Jan 10.

I increased my 401K contributions percentage dramatically two pay periods ago and have even been transferring an additional cash amount to mutual funds weekly for the past three weeks. My wife and I have 15 to 20 years to go for our projected retirement time frame and we are not likely to ever get an opportunity like this during that time frame again IMHO so I will continue to do so until there is a substantial recovery under way. The money we are saving now due to the more limited spending activity is going to pay off big time in the future.

I am curious about what percentage of your portfolio that has been affected by the market in the last few weeks. The dow dropping from 29k to 18k and some change. What percentage of your portfolio has gone away?

nice

i jumped in a bit early on RCL -- at $30 / share -- but I think they'll be fine long term

their CEO has been around for a long time so this isn't his first rodeo -- Financial Crisis, H1N1, etc.

I also got NCLH at around $7 / share so I'm up a bit on that for now.

I want to hold these for a few years and see what happens.

Hopefully this anomaly will pass in the next 6 months or so.

^^^ Awesome. You guys are much bolder than I. I'm just frozen and doing nothing, but I know some day I'll kick myself for not buying (other than 401K contributions). Too scared right now.
