Part of a huge storm front from Texas all the way up into Canada. On the back side of it, we are getting as much as 15 inches of snow.

The governor of Kentucky says 70-100 people are dead? Goodness, that's terrible.

“Gov. Beshear confirmed during the briefing that more than 50 are likely dead in western Kentucky.

“He said there were likely four likely tornadoes that hit multiple places in the state, with the primary tornado being on the ground for more than 200 miles.

“It’s the longest tornado touchdown, distance-wise, in Kentucky’s history, Beshear said.“

There was a candle factory in Mayfield that was completely flattened by the tornado. Current estimates are that there were 110 people inside.

IMO Prayers are in order.

I've stopped counting.

My wife's paternal aunt lives in Mayfield. She and her husband escaped any serious storm damage, but their son lost his entire barn to include a tractor and two cars. Lost as in completely gone, no debris of any kind left behind.

Prayers for all affected. Hard to comprehend the power of those long-track tornadoes. I expect a scar on the land will be visible in new satellite images.

Illinois and Arkansas both got hit pretty hard with multiple tornados too. Several mass casualty events, including an Amazon warehouse in Illinois and a nursing home in Arkansas.

There is an Amazon distribution facility that was flattened with 150 inside working. Also a Walmart somewhere.

I fear the death toll is going to be significant

We were fortunate to only have some relatively minor damage to our roof and a bunch of shutters blow off the house. I finished repairs on the shutters and we’re waiting on a roofing company to come and assess the damage. Prayers for those less fortunate that have been impacted far greater than us.

Our son and his family live in BG a few miles from the Corvette plant. They were lucky, homes were destroyed one block over from them, but their house was okay.
