I'm six hours away with a large enclosed trailer. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

A tornado at night, that's pretty terrifying. Prayers to the families and victims of such destruction.

Day or night doesn't matter with tornadoes. With hurricanes you know it's coming in advance and have time to GTFO. With tornadoes it wasn't there a minute ago, and here it comes ... The water in Washington won't clear up until we get the pigs out of the creek~Senator John Kennedy

The last long track tornado I remember was Joplin and never at this time of year. Watching this go through, there was about a thirty degree temperature drop at the front, always concerning. The Amazon facility in Edwardsville, Il is about twenty miles north of us. We saw nothing, no wind, no rain, no lightning, nothing at all. Went to bed at 68 degrees, 39 when we got up. Prayers to all affected by this nightmare. Set the controls for the heart of the Sun.

It was on the ground over 100 miles before it hit Mayfield. Tracked 225 miles into Kentucky.

Eddy Creek Marina/Coleman Bridge near my small property near Eddyville, KY, and south side of Princeton, KY., near country club heavily damaged by Mayfield storm. No one hurt as far as we know. Friend had been to Mayfield 2 days earlier, passed by candle plant. Ground and aerial coverage at Mayfield truly, truly painful to witness this morning. Also got communication from Western Kentucky University (Alma Mater] detailing campus damage, damage and deaths in Bowling Green and Warren County with 12 deaths known. Huge local responses for assistance, including Federal Disaster aid approval. Prayers for all. Blackhorse4

I’m six hours away as well. Same offer. Build a man a fire and keep him warm for a night, set a man on fire and keep him warm the rest of his life.

I just woke up and have to head back down there this afternoon. Words are hard to come up with to explain the range of devastation. It showed the best that humanity had to offer. Many of my guys, particularly one of my SWAT medics, saved a lot of lives. I won’t say the medical response system failed down there, but he saw there was no flow to the triage, took charge and saved some ones that wouldn’t otherwise be saved. It showed the worst that humanity had to offer. As first responders we’re pulling people from the rubble at MCP, young democrats were looting the Hudson Ag next door. Right fucking next door. They also managed to loot all the liquor stores and pharmacies. However, since the op has turned from rescue to recovery, the looting has ceased. Ask me why that has happened. The response has been as massive as the storm. Louisville and Lexington metro in particular sent heavy rescue units down and have since taken over the recovery efforts at MCP. About 15 agents from ATF and a couple of DEA guys have been the only fed LE response and they have been fabulous. Another guard unit is slated to be on the ground tonight. Anyone wanting to volunteer can go to the Mayfield/Graves County Fair Grounds. As working parties come out, that is where they are assigned out of. In this kind of things, there are no insignificant jobs. Even handing out water of separating donations is needed. I’m also sure that you can likely contact your local Red Cross Chapter and donate what is needed most. Clothes, non perishable food items, and cash. Please stay out of down town, and the Guard has every thing a MCP shut down. The fucking media. I’m going to hold my tongue about the disgusting fucking media so this post can’t be used against me in a complaint.

Wow, the photos are sobering. That's terrible. The tornado went pretty close to my dad's place, they are still without power there, expected to be for a while. Strive to live your life so when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the floor, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up."

Thanks Jlj for the first hand account. Also thank you being there and doing all the things you and your guys are doing. I do hope more survivors can be found. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Doing what I want, When I want, If I want! |
Thank You Jlj for your efforts and updates. I haven’t called any of our neighbors in Tennessee to see if we had any damage to our property. I don’t want to get in the way if they have issues. Going to call and make sure they are o.k. and need anything. It had gotten pretty nasty here in IL that night. Went to the basement for a time, but luckily for us the storm split and went north and south. ******************************************** "On the other side of fear you will always find freedom"

I'm in NE Arkansas about 20 miles west of where the tornado began to show up on radar as skyborne rotation. I'm 52 and I've lived here all my life, but I'd never seen the AM weather like that. The roads and trees were wet with humidity and my concrete driveway actually had standing water though no rain had fallen. Strongs winds out of the south pushed temps to nearly 80 degrees in December. We could sense trouble coming, but we had no idea. The tornado started as a heavy rainstorm about 15 miles SW of Jonesboro, where both of my girls live. Jonesboro was hit by an F-3 tornado last year, too, when both of my girls were in town. I told my youngest to stay home and be ready to seek cover. Instead, she went to a pizza restaurant with friends because she's 21 and knows everything. I tracked the cell from Waldenburg, a small delta town and told her to stay put in the pizza joint. The tornado tracked directly over her in SW Jonesboro; however, it was still developing and was airborne. Had the tornado touched down before reaching Jonesboro, I'm afraid I would've had a tragedy on my hands. The tornado touched down just NE of Jonesboro and went off the charts. Debris to 30,000 feet confirmed by radar. 277-300 mph winds. Items from Leachville, Arkansas were found in Mayfield, Kentucky, 136 miles away. I volunteered to go to Monette, where the nursing home and most of the town were destroyed, but was told to stand down because so many people wanted to help. The tornado was an F-4 when it hit Monette, and likely an F-5 or EF-5 when it destroyed Mayfield. A sad and terrible day. THANK YOU, Jerry, for responding to help those poor people. https://www.washingtonpost.com...s-with-their-bodies/

I'm best friends with the coroner in Craighead County, Arkansas, where the Monette nursing home was destroyed. He just text me this picture taken from Arkansas State Highway 18/Highway 135 NE of Jonesboro which became the Monette/Mayfield tornado. It was likely 4 tornadoes that merged into one. I've never seen anything like this.

Thank you Very little |
Finally got through to my client/friend in Dawson Springs, his home and business were spared, two of his employees lost their lives in the storm, the drone video shows just how destructive this tornado was.

My goodness, that drone video is utter destruction...almost nuclear in its devastation.

Looks as if the death toll in Mayfield will be much lower than I first thought it would be. As of last night, 101 people have been accounted for at MCP (candle factory).
