About once a month I use distilled white vinegar in each ear. Works wonders.

Weird but it works.

It really doesn't.

"First of all, studies from as far back as the 1990s show that no negative pressure results from ear candles. (4) Actually, the amount of vacuum pressure required to “suck out” wax from the ear would burst your eardrum! Research shows that ear candling results in no ear wax removal whatsoever. Sometimes it even leaves behind candle wax inside the ear canal as well as powdery ash. (5)

In addition, many proponents of candling/coning will insist that the gunky residue left inside the candle after its use proves that the practice removes “impurities.” Unfortunately, the evidence is overwhelming that the gunk is nothing more than candle leftovers. The way a used ear candle looks inside is the same, whether or not you burn it attached to an ear or out in the air.

Finally, WebMD, The American Academy of Audiology and Mayo Clinic (as well as other respected sources) warn patients of the potential dangers resulting from ear candling, including burns, candle wax deposits in the ear and even hearing loss. (6, 7)"

Reminds me of the joke about the girl in the massage parlor that asked her client if he wanted a 'wax job'. He agreed and she suddenly slapped his nuts between two bricks. Wax flew out both of his ears.

Does a good professional cleaning do anything to alleviate tinnitus? I have been thinking about going to the clinic and have ears professionally cleaned out. If I knew it would help I'd be there today but up to now I have been procrastinating.

One really needs to get schooled up then practice & use an 'ear bulb' or water flush type system. No need to be sticking anything remotely hard in your ear, just warm water.

I don't add anything beforehand, like to soften things up. I just do a handful of squirts with Luke warm water, clean.

It takes a bit to get the feel and right amount of water pressure. I first had it done by a doctor, then ventured out myself.

the main ingredient in debrox ($6+) is hydrogen peroxide ($0.69). 3 drops every other day. you hear it bubble because it's dissolving the wax. schedule an ear irrigation at the doc. qtips and anything else stuck into your ear causes the build up of wax (impacted) and makes it worse.

Hydrogen Peroxide

I take mine straight, whenever I think about it. One side one day, the other side the other day. About two minutes before flushing it out (all this takes place in my last refuge of solace, the hot shower). I can hear it bubbling pretty well at first, and subsequent applications, the bubbling is less noticeable. All kinds of things get washed out. Still have not found the Tv remote, though.

For the last few years the doc says my ears are clear, whenever I'm in for anything.

I have repeated this myself from time to time since with good results.

Same treatment I got just last summer. Took 5 minutes and worked perfectly.

I get some hydrogen peroxide and fill a 20cc syringe with warm water. Make sure to use warm water and not cold water. Rinse and repeat a few times on both ears. Be sure not to blast it. You can also just get a cotton ball and soak it in hydrogen peroxide and then lay on your side and and squeeze some in there and then place the cotton ball on your ear. You will hear crackling and see the yellow color fluid drain out when you get up. Wait about 6 min and then turn over and repeat. This is what I have used in the ER for years and never had any complaints.

Mosey on over to Robert's Health Food in Eastland and pick you up a pack.

It's weird but actually seemed to work for me.

I sometimes use any thin flat thing available--very carefully! I've also taken a paper napkin, twisted one of the corners, and screwed it into the ear--it's remarkably effective, and has little chance of puncturing the eardrum. (The little corkscrew things advertised on TV are a commercialized version of this.)

My son was complaining of an ear ache. I bought a Welch Allen professional otoscope to see what was in his ear and I used the Elephant Ear irrigation system to clean it. Nasty black chunks came out and he felt fine afterwards.
