I have been using the Dorco 3-blade shaving "system" for a number of years now. Inexpensive and has worked just fine at home and on the road. It seems however, in my opinion, I'm not getting as many comfortable shaves from the 3-blade cartridges that I used to get...blades aren't staying as sharp as they used to perhaps. With that said, and if you use a disposable shaving system...

Hard to remember that last time I changed the blade, but then I shave every 2-4 days and don't have a super heavy beard. I judge it more on how the blade looks. If it's white with soap scum/minerals, I tend to change it.

Once. To be fair, I have a beard and the last time I shaved was summer '22.
Every now and then I have to shave for work (i.e. going to a place that requires being clean shaven for respirator fit). I splurge and use a new blade.

I use the Dorco 6 blade. I don't really count how many shaves between changes. I just change when it's starting to feel more like I'm tearing out the stubble than cutting it.
That being said, I just took a look at my Amazon order and looks like about 16 blades/year. I shave about 3X/week. So I'm getting like 10 shaves between shaves. I'm also cheap so I could/should change more often.
These go to eleven.

Trac-II here, since the 80's at least. Bought a 100-pack of the Personna blades from Amazon, not as nice as Gillette, but I figure they'll last me the rest of my life. I proactively wash out the gunk at every shave, seems like gunk buildup will fail the cartridge long before the blades dull. I use a cartridge until the lubricating strip wears off, takes at least a couple of months.

I shave almost daily with a Gillette proglide. I’d guess I change blades every 5 weeks or so. 25-35 shaves seems about right. When I want a really close shave I use my Merkur double edge with feather blades. I’ve never kept track with those but I’d guess 12-15 shaves with those. I remember asking my father how to know when to change blades when I was just starting. He said you’ll know. It’ll start pulling hair instead of cutting it. He was right, dull razors hurt.
Gillette Mach 3 or Schick Xtreme(?). I shave my face and whole head daily and only get about 3 shaves before I change. They used to last longer and I was attributing the decline to older age, stiffer hairs, but maybe the material isn’t as strong as it used to be?

I haven’t used a cartridge style blade in years, but when I did I would store the blade in a little mason jar that had enough oil in it to cover the whole blade assembly. The blade is degraded by the effects of the water and how they sit wit pretty much all the time.
Storing the head in oil solved the issue. I seem to remember I would dry it quickly with a towel and then dropped it in. The oils would need changing every once in a while as it got a little nasty, but it did a great job prolonging the life of the blade.
I switched to a double edge safety razor and only used the blades for a shave or two as they are so cheap, so I stopped with the oil routine.

Originally posted by RogueJSK: I use a Schick Hydro 5 on my face and head. When I'm shaving every other day, they last me about two weeks. So roughly 6ish shaves.
I use these also, face & neck only. I've reduced my shaving to twice a week. I'll normally get six to eight shaves out of them, although recently I wonder if it's worth it to push it two more. My situation is harsh beard, soft face. If I shave too often I'll get razor bumps.
Harry's didn't work as well for me.

Gillette Trac II Plus and I use no shaving cream. I use a small spray bottle and wet my face using water. Now here is where I think it saves my blades for longer use, I rinse the blade in a plastic cup filled with alcohol and let air dry til the next day which I get 10-15 days from each blade and I shave everyday.
