Leftists, what more

I use it for the bump in the night gun and my CCW. I might try and fix it but it is over 20 years old so no loss if I don’t/cant.

I need to look into replacement safes. It needs to be quick access and hold a full size 1911/revolver and my CCW (Walther PPS). This is to keep kids/drunk friends away not burglars. I have a full size safe for that but it’s not quick access. Think table top like my Gunvault.

Years ago I wasn’t comfortable with biometric access but perhaps you could convince me it’s reliable these days. Any recommendations?

Still not a fan of the biometric sensor.
If you don’t get your fingers just right, it’s not working. That’s no bueno at 3:00am when there’s a bump in the night.

I have a Hornaday safe and there’s another on the wife’s side of the bed. It looks like an alarm clock, big enough for 2 pistols, there’s also a USB port on the back so you can charge a phone or whatever off of it.
It’s a push-button, so set whatever combo, and when you hit the keypad, it lights up and you can see the numbers. There’s also a key-fob that goes with it. Toss it on your keys or something, so if you put the fob on the keypad, that will unlock it too.

There’s also a barrel key that unlocks it if the power goes out.

I had a Gunvault as well. It lasted +/- 15 years, maybe more, used a few times a day. I liked it, but I have a larger Hornaday to fit an AR Pistol.

Been Using the Hornady RFID Safe for a couple of years now. Was leery of the tech at first but its been great. I dont rely on the batteries. I keep it plugged in. May not hold multiple guns though.

I recently got a Vaultek Lifepod 2.0 as a premium for buying a new P320. It's being used as my truck safe. Pretty happy with it, it has a numeric lock and can be opened with an included key if the battery fails. I really like the interior light.

We can easily fit my wife's and my carry pistols and spare mages into it when we have to leave our guns in the truck.

I got one of these based on reviews.

Stealth Shadowvault 2-pistol safe

It’s heavy-about 25 lbs. No biometrics, just an S&G digital lock. Not ideal for a bedside unit. I have a Hornady RFID unit for that.

I’ve stuck with gun vaults with simplex locks before I finally got a safe.

I don't have any personal experience with those, but my buddy has one, and he likes it. His can store multiple fingerprints, so what he did was record the same finger multiple times at different orientations, that way if it's rolled or angled a little when he touches the sensor it'll still be recognized and open the box.

I have to highly recommend the Fas1 safes. Very solidly built, simplex lock, and present your pistol in a ready to grip position. We’ve had several in our family, and they are top notch!

The V-line industry ones also offer a variety of simplex type safes.

Listen to this guy. Simplex or key.

Most all the electronic keypad or biometrics are cheap Chinese guts.

I have three different Vaultek units that work as advertised. I use the numeric keypad buttons the majority of the time, not the biometric reader.

V-line Brute, mine has the Simplex lock, which I prefer, but I think it comes in a fingerprint version as well as an NFC-key version (finger ring, pendant, or phone).

I got a 100$ off the Fort Knox during a sale. I like it a lot. Didn’t want electronic locks of any kind anymore.

Fit medium size guns perpendicular. Will fit two full size if they are laid alternating ways.

If one is a small back up gun both will easily fit.

Ignore the mess, I’m still moving in.

For years when my son was a child, I had a Fort Knox pistol box with a mechanical Simplex lock system and it worked great. No batteries, no electronics, just a 5 button combo and a knob. Once my son moved away, I stopped using it, but they still make them.

I was going to fix the Gunvault. The Mrs. Said why don’t you just get a new one? Smile
I love that woman.
I went with the Vaultek VT Essentials. No biometric, no app, and no Bluetooth. Just a digital keypad and backup keys. When I saw it would fit two government sized 1911’s I was sold. Thanks for all your help.
