Their crowds have opened a business opportunity. In Texas, there is a chain called The Texan which matches Buc-ee's in terms of number of pumps, size of c-store, cleanliness of restroom, quality of employee, and hot food. They're up to 21 locations.

For example, they opened a Texan on I-10 in Schulenberg which is 43 miles closer to Houston and it's about the time my high level alarms start going off when driving to San Antonio. The last two times I drove to San Antonio I stopped here instead of Buc-ee's.

I've stopped at that The Texan in Schulenberg, it's on the route [21>77>59] we take from my dad's place outside B/CS to our S TX property.
I recall it being nice, didn't think about it being a competitor to Buc-ees, definitely far less crowded.

They sure ought to consider putting a Buc-ee’s on I-10 between Ozona and El Paso. Maybe at Ft Stockton. There’s no real competition and lots of hungry travelers.

The last time I was at a Buc-ees (Texas) they had employment ad signs out front offering a 150-200K salary for a store GM.

Breakfast burritos are good. I like the smoked sausage

I stop every chance because the house branded fountain root beer, Birch beer, Cream Soda is awesome. Always leave with the biggest cup available of one of them

Was at the New Braunfels location last month, I think that was the biggest I'd ever seen....120-pumps across two sheltered areas, along with the main retail building. Bathrooms sparkling as always, grabbed a pack of hot Pecans as my gut was full of smoked goodness from Burnt Bean BBQ (#1 TX Monthly). Grabbed some souvenirs for friends and family before we took off to get over enemy lines.

I tried some Beaver Nuggets once.

Here's my YouTube #shorts on the subject

Buc-ee's Beaver Nuggets Taste Test #shorts

***SPOILER ALERT***

I was less than impressed, still I hope to visit one in person some day.

In the next year they're opening one up only about 10 minutes from me. Not far outside of Memphis, just off i40 at exit 28.. I'm looking forward to trying some of their stuff, since the only time I've been in one was down in Mobile and I did NOT want to pig out before hopping in the car to drive for nearly 8 hours back to TN.
