What, are you on the calls with my team members when we talk about the stakeholders in the project? You must be the one that’s not engaged in the conversation. You should loop in his manager to get buy in to reinforce the value of engagement by his direct reports. ______________________________ “I'd like to know why well-educated idiots keep apologizing for lazy and complaining people who think the world owes them a living.” ― John Wayne

“Boots on the ground” when referring to staffing up a project. I had one manager get all jacked up about a problem and yelled at his subordinate to deal with it with a “one shot, one kill” mentality. I am partial to using “get your poop in a group” on occasion.

I’ve gotten a chuckle out of being on a long-running conference call when the host or moderator indicates a pause for a “biological break.” I suppose this is somehow more sensitive than just saying “break” or certainly “bathroom break.” LOL "The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli." - George Costanza

The phrase "does that work for you?" always irritates me. It is, apparently, an attempt to avoid asking someone directly whether they like the idea or not. Much of this corporatespeak seems to be uttered in a effort to lighten or obfuscate undesirable concepts, speaking about a difficult situation in euphemism does nothing to foster understanding or resolution, instead it only serves to trivialize the situation.

THE one that gets me… “Trust but verify”. That is total bullshit you can only do one or the other! With trust, there is no verification needed. Oh wait, there is one more… Please keep this “close to chest” and there are 10 people on the conference call. I don’t know if it came from there, but “bio break” is heavily used in online gaming communities for games that requires the player to sit in long sessions where getting up and leaving for a few minutes could possibly ruin the run and the time invested by multiple players. Particularly MMORPG’s (massively multiplayer online role playing games). For example, you may be in a particular run where you have to sit for a half hour or more specifically to gather the amount and type of resources you need to build whatever item - you’re “farming” resources. “Bio breaks” are used to prevent “shit-socking,” a phenomenon that developed, as I understand it, in the Korean MMO community, and it’s exactly what you think it is. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.
