Is that Putin driving?

He is probably one of the few who could afford one.

Pretty cool. Check out the online vehicle configurator.

A couple months ago they announced that Raleigh NC would be the new US HQ.

Is this what Land Rover used to be, before they started making high end luxury grocery getters?

I've been following.

I'll get one as soon as I can afford it and they start delivering vehicles with regularity.

I had an opportunity to put a deposit down, but chickened out haha.

I'm wondering what the prices are going to be like. The Utility pickup looks interesting.

If they're putting the BMW B58 motor in there (which it appears they are), it will be delightfully powerful! I have it in my new X3 and while I'm babying it during break-in, and trying to stay under 3,500 RPM, it's still making me giddy with the torque and turbo whistle.

Does anyone have a sense for the price of this thing? I'm assuming at least $60k-$70k+ for the base, and $100k+ for the loaded? I mean, a BMW turbo i6 and small production numbers, so...

Yes, very excited about this one. Put my deposit down in March. Think this will be a great vehicle if it lives up to what the guys who built it intended it to be. US pricing hopefully coming in Dec., with deliveries maybe April. But think it will probably be longer.

Was hoping they would forgo the normal dealership route and sell direct, but the way US laws work, that is a no go from what they researched. Will be in about 20 states to begin with, with maintenance affiliates where dealerships are not available. Also they have said that they have made it easier for you to work on yourself as it is intended as a go anywhere vehicle to take the space of the old school Land Rover. So when your in the bush, jungle, desert or your garage you should be able to maintain without voiding any warranties. Or at least that is what they have said.

Here is a link to the German website for Ineos I pulled from a link on the Ineos forum. It is the only site I know of, that is showing prices on their configurator. So starting out just below $70K US. Have a work truck version starting at right at $60KUS.

This is the only vehicle I am excited about in a long time. Love the Land Rovers, but not their problems and cost. Really like that they have taken a lot of the bling and tech and shoved it to the side. Will see how the execution of this is in the real world once they start deliveries in Europe hopefully soon.

It's been a while since I looked, but for the price it seems much more spartan than the G-Wagen.

And much less expensive too…

It also has a 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty. Very nice

Ah, the initial reports I'd read didn't price it much off from a G-Wagen.
So, it didn't seem like a great buy, unless you were really wanting a more spartan, but still very capable, vehicle.

G550's have a base MSRP of $130k, but are rarely ever configured for the dealerships around here in base trim. I typically see them trimmed out in the $160k range.

Even at under $100k, a $30k-60k price delta is not nothing.

I'm a proponent of *electrified* vehicles in almost all cases. Having an electric motor *in addition to* an ICE motor has many performance benefits. All else equal, I like increased performance.

I'm also a proponent of *fully electric* vehicles for 90%+ of use cases. I think *most* people would benefit from an electric vehicle if they were being honest with themselves.

Would this vehicle benefit from being *fully electric*? Given it's intended use, no, I don't believe so. Would this vehicle benefit from a 48volt mild hybrid motor? Yes, and I wouldn't shy away from this vehicle if it came sourced with a BMW mild-hybrid.

At this stage, adding a 48volt mild-hybrid motor to an engine is basically on the same level of engineering as designing a motor around the use of a turbo-charger.
