McCarthy is leaving Congress: Mike Johnson elected as House Speaker
The less the folks in DC do the better for the rest of us. They take much and waste or steal even more. Every day they spend squabbling over who is in charge is a day they are not sticking it to us even worse.

I thought of that, but he has another more important role to play in our future history.

There was no Plan B. Regardless of opinion on McCarthy, any replacement will be handicapped and the Democrats have been given the advantage. Also possible next Speaker could be Jeffries.

DJT for Speaker, then get rid of Biden and Harris; 25th, impeach, whatever. Problem solved.

Might work if we had control of the Senate. No conviction to be found there with Dems in control.

So 9 out of 221 (?) Republicans wanted him out. 212 didn’t want him out. And he’s out. That doesn’t seem right to me, no matter the politics and personalities involved, that a small minority has this much power. So now what’s the plan, Matty G? Neither him nor any of his hard right buddies have a chance of getting anywhere close 218 votes.

I guess there’s a temporary Speaker of the House right now, from a list picked by McCarthy himself. Unsurprisingly, it’s one of his buddies. Anyone know if there’s a time limit on how long this person can be the temporary Speaker? If someone else never gets 218 votes, do they remain Speaker until 2025 when the next Congress is seated?

And in other shocking news, McCarthy says he won’t run for the now vacant Majority leader position.

It took what, 16 or 18 tries for you to get voted in and now you just got voted out.

What makes you think they would change their mind?

It’s not fair? McCarthy was installed by the smallest of margins. And part of that small margin was the agreement that if he failed to live up to his promises he would be gone.

He failed to meet his obligations to conservatives. He was ousted. What isn’t “fair” about that? Should we continue to have a speaker that gives more to the dems than conservatives in your opinion? Or should we start fresh with someone else to see if they can live up to their word?

Interestingly, Dan Bongino weighed in on this also saying it wasn’t fair. His take was that McCarthy would cut a deal with Dems to stay in power. Bongino has become the king of gloom and doom in the last six months. I guess his focus groups tell him it’s the highest payout of advertising money. I miss Rush.

I know my opinion isn't popular here among the burn it down crowd, but what, exactly, is the plan?

The country needs a functioning government, and this is third world failed state bullshit.

I don't disagree at all.

What's the plan? Judging by the 210 Republicans who voted against his ouster, I'd say it's a safe bet that there isn't one.

Bingo! Continue with the same failed method over and over again expecting a different outcome is no way to run anything.

I don't know whether they bring those qualities with them, but they sure do surface after a while.

That is exactly what happened. The Democrats that McCarthy was in bed with stabbed him in the back. He thought they would run cover for him.

Exactly why would any replacement be handicapped?

Re: Jefferies, in order for him to become Speaker, he would need the support of some (at least six!) Republicans uni-party RINOS, and as bad as they are, I can't see that happening.

How long will it take to replace McCarthy, and what important actions will be stalled during that process?
And will such stall be a big deal or not?

God bless America.

Burn it all down might be okay if you have a plan to rebuild, but there is no plan.

The White House is in Democratic hands. The Senate is in Democratic hands. Republicans have a very slim four vote majority in the house. The only way to move this country in a more conservative direction is to elect more Republicans. Many more. I can't believe that this is going to result in the election of more Republicans.
