Looks like a fun car! Tell me Paul, I can't recall ever sitting in a Corvette do you have any difficulty getting in and out of it?

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Nothing special, 1990 C4 with a 6 speed manual. Plenty of fun for an old fart like me tho!

Very nice. You got it baby.

Yeah, some. The C4 is especially bad as the seat height is actually below the door sill. C5 and up are much better. If I came across the right deal I'd trade up.

Getting in, I stand with my back to the seat, sit down and then swivel my legs up and over the sill.

Getting out, I swivel around in the seat and put my feet on the ground and then brace my elbows, right on the dash, left on the back edge of the door opening, scoot forward and heave myself out.

At this point, the ride is worth the price of admission, but I wouldn't want it to be my only mode of transportation

Once in, the seating position is VERY comfortable. More so over long distances than my RAV4.

^^^^^^ Very similar to what I have to do to get in and out of my Mustang. I agree that it's worth it, though. I love cruising around in the old girl.

In NJ if the car predates 1996 (the inception of OBD II) you no longer have to have state inspection. One of the few good things about NJ.

Had an 86 C4, fun car, handles well, and with a 150 shop of NOS, becomes a low 12 second 1/4 mile car Big Grin

C4's have the hydroformed rails, they are on the edge of the chassis, so the only thing I found is you have to step up and over and in. Later versions fixed that making them easier on entry/exit.

Still right now the C4 is the entry level model for Corvettes and that's a bargain for what you get, of course the later in the C4 line, the more you get. Like Paul said, c5 and up have better entry ergonomics.

With a Convertible though, just pop the top, and sliding in is easier.

Oh yeah, that'd get me pulled over in a heartbeat! I have enough trouble with police.interest in my lowly 1988 Rx-7 Convertible (yes, it is red).

I have flirted with the idea of having it tagged as an antique, but that feels too much like giving up!

Now when I get Mrs. A's 1972 Cutlass Supreme back on the road, it will definitely be tagged as an antique, they'll probably want to sticker me as well!

I haven't been pulled over in a long time. But it's very hard not to speed when I'm out with this. I've had a bunch of Vettes but this one scares me a little. Big Grin

Exactly. Old enough to be affordable, not so old as to be collectible.

@got2hav1

Yeah that would scare the bejesus out of me. WAY more car than I'm equipped to handle!

A nice base model C5 or C6 is about the upper limit for me. Gotta be a stick tho. I'm casually looking but don't really expect to find anything suitable in my price range.

A nice C5 Z06 would be a good choice. I had a black 2001 Z and a torch red 2003 Z. Great cars. I loved the hardtop and lightweight 3118 lbs.

Back in the 90's I bought a used 1986 C4 in Tulsa OK, moved to FL and it was my daily amazingly it had under 10K miles when I bought it in the early 90's.

At the time my 86 had stock Iron heads, but I have Crane Roller rockers, K&N open element filter, upgraded oversized runners and port matched to the central intake, MSD, changed the 160 mph 2.75 rear for a rear pumpkin out of a manual trans 84 C4 which moved it to 3.33. Did have 3.75 but it just wasn't a good match for the 700R4's ratios

Fun ride at mid twelves consistently using a manual control for the 150 shot of NOS, if you haven't driven or ridden in a car with NOS it's a hoot and changes them significantly.

So pulled over story. Wife takes it home one day from the office, at a light turning left she presses a bit too hard, the Flowmasters bark nice and loud and get the attention of a local police who promptly pull her over.

She asked him not to give her a ticket as it was my car, she doesn't drive it much (true) and wasn't trying to do what happened. He looked inside, took a look in the hatch and asked, "Is that Nitrous?" and then told her to take it easy and take it home, now. LOL

Found a video of me making a pass at Bithlo Dragstrip...

Good running C4! Is that color gold? That's a fairly rare color if it is. Just looked it up. Only 777 Gold Metallic Corvettes in 1986. Nice!

They’re easier to get in and out of with the top down because you don’t bang your head.

With the active exhaust and track mode selected, I know they hear us before they see us. Big Grin

Yes, it was Gold Metallic... Sold it several years back, really fun machine, and it surprised the heck out of several who challenged it on the street, not that I'd do that...
