This sounds like really scary stuff. It sounds like everyone is doing everything they possibly can and your ability to FaceTime is kind of it’s own little gift. At least you can see each other’s faces when you talk even though I’m sure you’d much rather be there in person to touch him as well.
Any kind of virus would be bad for him right now, I suspect. His immune system has enough to deal with.
Your family is in my thoughts. Please keep us posted as you can.

Been through Paxlovid. Worst part is I couldn't stand the taste of coffee with it. Ice tea kept the caffeine detox at bay.

I don't blame you...I'd be going crazy if it were me stuck at home. But I'm sure he knows you're there for him, even if you can't be in person. Prayers of thanks that you guys were able to get it addressed quickly, a also prayers for a continued recovery for both of you!

Sorry to hear all this. It sucks but obviously is worse during the holidays. Prayers for all concerned.

That sucks. A few years back I had to wait up all night with my then-5yr old son in the hospital to figure out why he had a 102+ fever that wouldn't go away. After a couple of days, they finally were able to diagnose it as a slightly less than common type of bacterial kidney infection. Those were some nervous hours for me, though.

Hope he gets better soon!

He had his second surgery earlier this am and the docs say it went very well and they had to do really nothing but some cleaning of the wound out and doing some checking around. Vitals are good. It is looking better.

Not needing to remove any tissue is a very good thing.
Sounds like this current crew had the upper hand on this, and prayers for a full and complete recovery.

As a father who dealt with crisis with two children, and similar with my younger brother, born when I was 14, and being very involved in his trials for many years, I know the anguish, even though I cannot know your own.
