GeorgeairDo you fall asleep with music or the TV on??
We like it as quiet and dark as possible, add one white noise machine. Our prior house had blinds and a separate a/c for bedroom that allowed almost complete darkness with door shut, it was heaven.
I've never been a fan of TV in the bedroom on in evening as that's almost never going to promote a long deep sleep, IMHO. Until 4 years ago we have never had one at all. It worked out just fine - bedroom was for sleeping and...

Flash-LBBecause of my time in the Army, I learned how to go to sleep anywhere, anytime I want to.
I don't think it takes over 60 seconds every night with no music or tv.
Oh, and I also have Tinnitus, but I've learned how to tune it out over the years.

jhe888No. The quieter the better.

ggileI love the sound of rain and thunder while I'm sleeping, but for falling asleep I don't need anything. I swear there are times when I think I've fallen asleep before my head even hits the pillow.

BamaJeepsterNo TV's allowed in any bedrooms at our house. Studies have shown that it really impacts your ability to get the deep sleep you need to recover.
As dark, cool and quiet as possible with a fan on. Sometimes even earplugs.

KrazeehorseI don't usually go to bed until I'm ready to sleep so it's lights out and quiet for me.

Fed161My wife and I both need a fan to fall asleep, even in the dead of winter. When it's cold the fan blows air against the opposite wall. We need the sound to sleep.

Ever been in an Anechoic chamber? I went in one in the studio of Creedence Clearwater Revival.
You can hear your heart beating, hear our lungs moving in and out, specifically the air.
Spooky after a few minutes.

95flhrAnother with Tinnitus here, I have to have a white noise machine or something on to help drown out the constant tone.
Yes I have been in an Anechoic chamber, that will drive you insane in a short period of time.

dkjbamaI always used to go to sleep with the tv on, starting in college. 90 Minute sleep timer. Then I met my wife. She cannot sleep without a box fan on, therefore I now sleep with a box fan on. It's wild, she wakes up instantly if the power goes out and the fan stops. She likely saved the heat pump compressor because we had about a 30 minute brownout at 4:30 one morning. Voltage from one leg to neutral was 65v. Compressor was just sitting doing the death buzz when I pulled the disconnect. If she hadn't woken up, I'd have never known of the brownout and if the compressor had gone, I'd just have assumed it was just it's time.

old dinoFinally slept through the night last night ... not sure if pure exhaustion from what is going on in our family or also with help from a little Valerian and Melatonin.

DanHTV stays on. Can't sleep if I'm bored, and the longer I can't get to sleep while I'm bored, the more agitated I get. Eventually, I'll fade out and to sleep.

MikeinNCI use a noise maker to drown out the freedom “eeeeeeee” that is ever present in both ears and several pitches…
