No offense taken.

I explained it that way as much for the benefit of others as in response to you. Many of the comments in these pages suggest many here believe FB to consist of nothing more than a bunch of vacuous people who know each other only via FB and spend their days exchanging trivialities.

Yep, I stopped logging in after the 2012 election. I do have to go there occasionally as Cub Scouts has a popcorn fundraiser group where we can transfer popcorn between units rather than going through our council.

It's kind of like the folks who no longer want to use SIG Forum. No need to delete your account, just stop going there.

Nope. As long as you still have a FB account you are counted as a FB user, which aids FB's profitability.

SF doesn't make money off your having a login here--whether you use it or not.

FB is purging those right of center. Several friends who work for gun manufacturers had their longstanding accounts deleted with zero recourse. Latest effort just since Election Day is to lock down content in private groups by requiring every post be approved by the group admins and if FB censors deem the content to be a problem, they just delete the group and the admins, permanently. I'm not even talking 2A related groups, we're talking pro-LE and anything right of center.

Also, they're cracking down on those with multiple accounts as well.

PGT, you'll have to excuse me for taking that "news" with a huge grain of salt. I've seen multiple accounts of things like that relating to FB and never once seen it myself.

In fact I used to run a small political group. Essentially it was a place for friends of mine, family, and I to post political and social stuff without polluting our main/personal timelines with it.

I think maybe once or twice was anything even flagged in that group. When I checked up on it, it was indeed fake, or at least highly-questionable. I don't recall anything ever being outright deleted.

That being said: FB has demonstrated bias against non-leftist views. They haven't been nearly as egregious about it as Twitter, but they done it.

That is why I feel obliged to abandon the platform. What's happening now was the straw that broke this camel's back.

I have several friends I know IRL who were deep-sixed over the last 30 days. One works for Beretta, another is an FFL. A third runs the Norinco fan page on FB. As for all posts in groups needing to be approved by admins, I was an admin in "Civilian Carry Radio" which is the FB Group for the podcast. I was asked to be an admin by the main guy, Baraka, and it was just instituted last night.

So....grab your 5lb back of salt. It's happening.

Under your profile look at “Activity Log”, click on each item to view your history back to the very beginning of your Facebook use.

Deleted everything I could and changed everything else to “only me”.
Going to give it time in hopes it syncs with server, then delete the account.

See no need for me to so willingly feed big tech with all knowledge about me.

Well, that's new, then. I cleared and deleted my group about 24 hours ago, after a 48 hour announcement it was coming.

ETA: Just caught the end of a story on OAN claiming FB is deleting pro-Trump groups.

Deleted everything I could ...

Heads up: Facebook's software is wonky as all get out. There are times I've repeatedly cleared a past year, only to look again a few hours, days, weeks, or months later to find some that hadn't shown up before.

I mentioned earlier how I'd long ago cleared everything that was older than 72 hours. Well, the other day, in preparation for deleting my account, I reviewed my activity log all the way back to when I joined. Lo and behold: Found many posts in 2017 and beyond. A few, scattered here and there, all the way back to 2014.

ETA: Nearly forgot: If you used FB Messenger at all, you might want to go through and delete all those "conversations," too. Though I just confirmed it only deletes your view of them. Whomever was at the other end retains the conversation thread(s).

Another tip: After deleting your Facebook account, make sure you clear all browser data to make certain you've purged from it any tracking information embedded in there.

It's a PITA, because it means you'll have to re-log into anything into which you were logged-in, but better safe than tracked, IMO Smile

I've taken the additional measure of blocking Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter in my browser.

Although I might like to get off FB, for me it would be difficult. One of my genealogy forums is a FB Group, and I don't want to get rid of it. There used to be a parallel Group on Yahoo, but it has gone away. Also, I've got a lot of distant relatives (4th-6th cousins) I communicate with on FB, and they don't seem to do ordinary e-mail.

Interesting enough, dumped Fox off the follow for my feed,

That was a blessing, all the Biden is Potus messages from Fox was overwhelming, now it was nice and calm, very little political, until......

FB started tagging Trump posts with a "Biden Won" message. Originally FB was marking Trump posts with election messages, every Trump message. I can't say if they were marking Biden messages, since I didnt follow the man.

Now everytime Trump posts FB is attaching a Biden is President elect reminder, Telling everyone that follows Trump that the media had declared Biden the winner.

They truly are scum of the earth...

I keep my FB account so my mom can get pics of grandkids easier. I don’t really post anything myself.

I figured they'd double-down on their anti-Trump and otherwise pro-leftist agenda pretty quickly. Looks like I was right to quit them when I did.

Sadly, I fear an insufficient number of people will abandon FTI (Facebook Twitter Instagram) to have an impact Frown

  • I backed up all of my pics & videos
  • Started running Social Book Post Manager in Chrome to mass delete every single post, pic, comment, like, etc over the past 13 years. Painfully slow process still on-going.

    Stay on Facebook.

Lock everything down to view "only me". Put up some non-descript photo of a car, or train or tree or whatever as your profile photo.

Then log out. Post nothing. Update nothing. Comment on nothing. View nothing, Click on nothing.

Log in on Christmas and wish someone Merry Christmas, change your profile pic to something equally non-descript. Then log out again until next Christmas

For all intents and purposes become a dead account and dead weight. Let FaceWaste show an inflated value with seventy million dead accounts on the balance sheet.

Let advertisers spend money marketing to seventy million dead accounts. Let investors buy stock on seventy million dead accounts. Let FaceWaste pay fees, taxes, maintenance or whatever on seventy million dead accounts.

One vote can make a difference. Why not one dead account.
