I guess I have a pet deer
I've noticed this deer hanging around (I'm pretty sure it's the same one) since it was a fawn two years ago. Then, unlike the other fawns, it was never with a doe always by itself. I often see it in the woods nearby and in tall weeds around the garage and out buildings.

My dog used to chase it but lately has become used to seeing it around and generally ignores it. Occasionally she still may but the doe runs then turns around and the dog looses interest and leaves it.

A couple days ago when I went to the garage it came out for under the carport which I thought strange. Today when I took waste to the compost pile I noticed it lying down in the carport just to the left of the MULE.

It appears healthy it just seems odd that she's always alone. Maybe she thinks the dogs and I are her herd?

She's lying down in the shadow to the left of the MULE.

Zoom in between the back tire and the sawhorse, I can see it.

We have deer in these parts that go between the neighborhoods. Fox, turkey, other things. Just accidentally saved a rabbit from a hawk this morning. Heard the noise and went to investigate and saw the hawk on the rabbit on the ground. Hawk flew and rabbit sprinted.

Thanks. I finally see it. I wasn’t certain what the MULE was.

Probably most people are not familiar with a Kawasaki MULE, I should have said side by side.

“MULE” is practically the generic term for side by side around here.

Yeah I guess many refer to all SXS's as "mules" or "gators".

I always like asking my very intelligent artificial source for answers. This screenshot shows several reasons, but it gave more.

Happened to my dad, became a family pet. Until the game warden noticed it was inside the fenced area of the property, then it became a fine.

Poor thing.

Food and fresh water is what you can do for it.

Is there a chance she's pregnant and getting ready to give birth? That could explain the bedding down in the barn. If she sticks around and raises her fauns near your house that would be really cool.

She has both in the form of all kinds of weeds I see her nibbling on, the hostas Barb gave me that I planted Frown, and there's a stream just over the hill.

I suppose so but it seems pretty late in the year and she's been going under there on and off for a couple days now

Both of my dogs generally ignore her but occasionally Sophie will run at her, however she's become used to them. I was in the shop earlier when I heard Sophie's "I'm chasing something" barking. I went out and saw the doe standing in the weeds behind the fire pit munching on something and Sophie slowly walking back.

She might be getting ready to drop a fawn…
