On Twatter there are images of the dead guy with his cat.

Easily half the responses to one such posting said nothing about the murder, they were concerned and wanted to know what became of the cat.

I was one of them, expressing far greater concern for the cat than for the decedent.

Similar to this, my first thought was "at least they didn't murder his wife and kids." That was before I realized that "wife and kids" had no meaning in his life.
