My hickory cane goes everywhere that I go.

I am careful not to have anything like a pocket knife with me in restricted places, since I know that I will be inspected. All of the supporting hardware that was surgically implanted in my hip and thigh will light up any metal detector.

Story from 35 years ago. My Dad was kind of like the absent minded professor, really smart but lost his car keys everyday. He didn't carry on his person but nearly always had a .357 by the bed and another one in the car. Not a good trait, but he would lose track of pistols. One time he slammed on his brakes and a S&W came out from under the seat, "I'd been looking for that!"

Anyways, Pops was a lawyer and went into the county courthouse and put his briefcase thru the x-ray. The deputies eyes got real big, and my Dad thought "oh shit," I forgot about my .357. The officer was so surprised he really didn't know what to do, but eventually said come with me and sit in this room for a minute. Dad sat there and after a while got up to go outside and realized there wasn't a door knob on his side! Oops, it dawned on him he was in trouble.

They county did file some charges on Dad but everything was kept on the down low for about a year. I have to say the good ole boy network stepped in. Dad was buddies with the District Attorney, and the 2 of them had been my grade school PeeWee football coaches. After about a year the charges were dropped.

Not exactly, but once I left my P365 in the bathroom at work. I was the last one to leave at the end of the day, and remembered the pistol when I got home.

I made sure I was the first one to arrive in the morning. I always thought the cop who left her pistol in a restaurant bathroom was an idiot, but now realize that when you are super tired things can happen.

I had to get a birth certificate at a court house but I forgot that I had a small .380 in my back pocket. I was a long way from my truck and it would be a huge pain in the ass to come back, so I looked around and put the pistol under a bush out front. Thankfully it was still there when I came out.

Does it count when your spouse says “You have enough!” so clandestinely you bring one in under the cover of darkness?

Just wondering……

I don't own any guns, but if I did, I would never, ever... ever, carry one where I wasn't supposed to carry it.
