No, actually it doesn't, but I understand your point.

| This is from Wikipedia, FWIW- Fernandes Anderson was reelected in November 2023, defeating a challenge by Althea Garrison,[14] a perennial candidate and former officeholder. When the oath of office was being administered collectively to city councilors by Mayor Michelle Wu at the January 1, 2024 inaugural meeting of new council term, Fernandes Anderson failed both to raise her hand and verbally recite the oath.[15] A video showing Fernandes Anderson's failure to perform her oath of office went viral after being posted to the Libs of TikTok account on X, with the account's post including commentary accusing Fernandes of hating the United States. She responded that she had "internalized" the oath with a private prayer, and called commentary on it "anti-immigrant racist vitriol."[16] However, because the Boston City Charter requires that city councilors recite their oath of office in order to serve, Mayor Wu and the city government declared that Anderson's tenure on the council had lapsed and ordered that city council records be amended to discount Fernandes Anderson's vote on the selection of Ruthzee Louijeune as council president, since Fernandes Anderson had not been eligible to cast any council votes (the vote to make Louijeuene city council president had been unanimous, therefore this had no material impact). Fernandes Anderson was allowed to re-assume her office as a city councilor after taking her oath on January 4, 2024.

When I was in my Air National Guard unit, I was frequently requested by the Personnel folks to administer the Oath of Enlistment to new and re-enlisting personnel. After a couple of times, I ordered through the Publication folks a quantity of pocket-size copies of the Constitution. I then handed out to the newly sworn-in their personal copy of the Constitution so that they would know to what they had just sworn. I don’t know if they read it, but they couldn’t say no one told them what was in it.

What happened with this...specimen? Anyone know?
She was elected, then re-elected with 70+% majority of the electorate. Like AOC, Talib and others, gives you some insight into the constituents of these communities. |

| All it does is give you an idea of what those who tabulate the vote want to happen.

She appears to have taken the oath after saying she wouldn't be in that day. All votes she took until that oath were invalidated. https://www.heraldpalladium.co...e2-38c4e8eaf9da.html |

Anyone whom she would offend by the refusal are undoubtedly those she already hates and who already dislike her—assuming they were even previously aware of who she was.
You're not wrong, we're living in the age of performative acts and statements, regardless of how outrageous and obtuse are welcomed by a broad media landscape. It wasn't too long ago where the images from Israel on Oct 7th would've outraged the vast majority of people, today there's a not-so insignificant population group that has attempted to contextualize the barbarity and minimize the cruel inhumanity of that day. |

How 'bout children of U.S. military or other U.S. citizens who were born while parents were working or serving out of the country? Wife and I lived in Barcelona for a year and a half, while I was working on a transfer-of-technology project there. If we had had a kid there, your rule would make him / her ineligible.
