Let's put it this way: I have had my Tundra for 20 years. It has around 500,000 miles on it. Only left me stranded three times and those were maintenance lapses on my part. My fault. I have otherwise been on top of the minimal maintenance required. I would without hesitation buy another Tundra except now I need a heavy duty truck. Toyota doesn't make one so I'm forced to the domestic brands. That makes me nervous.

I have a 2014 SR5 double cab, it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned.

I have had other trucks (F-150's, Dodge) and the quality of the Tundra has been superior with 0 repairs needed so far.

That being said, I have never been a fan boy and will admit that the Dodge trucks are great as well.

The Tundra has a great comfortable interior with just the right amount of stuff without being over the top.

I would say the best reasons to go for the Tundra are:

1. Proven and over engineered drivetrain.

2. Loads of power and rock solid performance and capability. Great seats too!

3. Phenomenal resale value (I paid around 36k for my truck 6 years ago and it's still worth
30k).

Looks like this is the way to go. I can't find a pop in bed liner and from the sounds of it a spray on liner is better. Hoping one of the trucks that my local Dealership is getting will have that option. How shitty is the stereo?

Line-X is worth it imho. I had it sprayed in my Tundra and my current F150 and it holds up well to abuse. I actually had them install the Line-X version of the Bakflip bed cover on my F150 too. Includes their lifetime warranty if I recall correctly.

As for Tundra vs whatever. Tundra is a nice truck...hard to go wrong with their reliability. I went with Ford last time as I was just kind of sick of driving Toyotas. I'm happy with it. More recalls than any Toyota product I've had but at the end of the day it runs just fine. I've owned a few Toyotas and Lexus and some did have issues with electrical and body panels being poorly made. Not the end of the world but all vehicles can have issues pop up.

I would also say my first Tundra '07 DC was probably overall the best vehicle I've ever owned. It was totalled, insurance gave me 12k for it in '18 with 217k miles.
I replaced it with an '18 Crewmax TSS Package. The DC seemed a little more nimble, and I miss the full size bed. But I wanted the big tank and big engine and 4x4. No DC's on the lot had all that and 0% financing. I don't get 13 or 14 on the highway. Usually between 17-18. I don't drive it like a teenager.
