I've looked at them a couple of times now and ended up going with a Ford F-150. The first time I seriously looked at them, I could get an F-150 with more equipment for considerably less money. This last time price wasn't the issue, it was ergonomics. Granted some of it was familiarity, but the controls on the F-150 seemed to naturally fall to hand whereas a couple of them in the Tundra I had to look for. The other thing was just overall feel. To me, driving the Tundra it felt HUGE even though it's the same size as the F-150. Really felt that I had no idea where the right front corner of the truck was. Driving the F-150 it drives smaller than it actually is. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

Have you driven both? Both are highly rated. Once you drive both you will know which you like better. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Can't speak to the 2020, But mine came from the factory with spray in bedliner. I opted for the Crewmax primarily for the added interior storage for trips to the range. With the rear window tint my gear is invisible inside so I can't make a stop along the way without worry. Again, speaking for the 2017 model TRDPro some options on other models are not available, so it would be wise to check if what you want is available on the 2020 version. Mine is fully optioned but lacks: Climate control (manual adjust heat & cool only) Heated seats The safety package with lane warning, etc.(pretty sure it is on the new model) It does have: All the TRD goodies less rear sway bar and cold air intake. The full trailer towing package with trailer brake control. This is my favorite feature even though I rarely tow anything. It adds "Tow Mode" which sets up the engine/transmission for a heavy trailer. "Tow Mode" completely changes the throttle response and transmission shift points and, with no load or trailer, makes the truck very sporty. Pulling away from a stop requires a light touch as it really wants to come off the line. I suspect any Tundra with the factory trailer package can do the same. Barcelona Red factory color. A bright red metallic that is a one-year-only TRDPro color and the only one to lght my fire. All of that shit is far secondary to “does it continue to run for long periods without me having to fix something?” For any Toyota I have had, that is a very obvious YES. Some folks prefer a comfier seat and a discount over it starting every time. Different strokes, I suppose. If I had need for a full size truck, I would have gotten a Tundra. I got a Taco, instead. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I had a 2013 Platinum 4x4 (basically the same truck mechanically as offered currently). In 125k miles, the only thing that I had to do besides normal maintenance was a MAS. About 10min and $55 from parts store I traded it in on a 17 Tacoma Pro. Only reason I did was because there were side streets in New Orleans I couldn’t drive down due to width and parking was difficult in the areas I went. Wonderful truck otherwise The 5.7 is pretty much a bullet proof motor. Thirsty if you get into it. Yep. But reality is the Tacoma only got an additional 4-5mpg average. My current 20 T4R is about the same as Tacoma When I traded it in at the same dealer I purchased from, they gave me $5000 less than what I paid for it initially ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Live today as if it may be your last and learn today as if you will live forever

Do it and do it right now!!!!! New Tundras especially the TRDPros are getting very very low in inventory. Used Tundras prices have increased about $3k in the last 3 weeks because of it. The new Tundras are going to become even more scarce and start pulling a premium. It is RUMORED yes only a RUMOR no official announcement yet that the V8 is going away completely from the Tundra line. I really hope they don’t do this and so do a lot of folks. When and if they officially announce this they are really going to pull a premium. I have owned a number of Chevy and Ford trucks. 8 Fords (including cars and SUVs) so by no means am I a Toyota Fanboy (though I am becoming one). I liked my Chevy’s and Fords but this Tundra CrewMax Limited is an absolute treat!!!!! People want to squawk they are outdated blah, blah, blah. It’s a truck and frankly I don’t want all the electronic doodads. I ended up with a Limited even though I was really looking at SR5s. But the Limited was the right price and the leather is nice and the seat heater for the wife is a plus. People want to squawk about gas mileage. The truck could benefit very much from an 8 or 10 speed transmission to help the mpg. But I also don’t really care about mpg. I never calculated it in my Expedition with the 3.5L Twin Turbo Ecoboost. I did however look at the average mpg for the life of the truck screen right before I traded it for the Tundra, 14.2 mpg so don’t get too worried over the Tundras mpg. The TRDPro is a pretty sweet package. Though if you buy an SR5 you can build a far more capable truck than the TRDPro for a fair amount less money. When I am done my Limited will outperform the TRDPro. As for the CrewMax vs. Doublecab. If you haul a lot of long stuff you may want to consider the double cab. If you are more concerned with passenger transport vs. long item transport the CrewMax is where it is at. I have 3 boys in car seats the 2 youngest can’t reach the front seats with their feet and my wife and I both are fairly tall and have our seats back pretty far. Not to mention in the CrewMax the entire rear window rolls down. Forget resale, forget longevity, forget reliability. The rear window rolling down is worth every cent more a Tundra cost compared to the similarly equipped other trucks. I say this in all seriousness. Granted I have only had my Tundra about a month now but it is my favorite truck I have had. It can go on to be my favorite vehicle I’ve owned. Though owning a Mustang and GTO in High School and College is hard to beat. Again, I am not a fan boy I think Ford makes a mighty fine truck. I won’t buy another GM as long as they keep putting that stupid cylinder deactivation crap on it. Our Suburban is a treat to drive when I have the deactivation bypassed. The Tundra is a better power plant in my opinion. My father in law has a 2008 Tundra he bought new. It currently has 260k miles. The man is not gentle with it and all he has done is oil changes, brakes, and shocks. Get the TRDPro if you want to buy and be done. If you want a capable truck and like to do some work buy an SR5 and outfit it yourself. I would not bother with the Toyota accessories unless you can work them as a deal in the sale price they are a bit overpriced on their own. I had my bedliner sprayed in on Tuesday and I installed my aluminum trifold bedcover this morning. Had the windows tinted in full ceramic film 2 days after I bought it as well as oversized off-road tires (I bought the truck used and the tires were shot). I have skid plates being made hopefully they’ll be here in a few weeks. Then I’ll order my suspension and slider steps to replace the factory running boards. Then we will be all done for awhile. My truck has the craptastic 26 gallon tank and that is my only gripe. I’ll be upgrading to the aftermarket 48 gallon tank eventually. Most of the newer trucks have the bigger 38 gallon (I think) tank. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Got my '13 SR5 double cab new, opted for the smaller 4.6L V8 as I was at the time driving a ton of highway miles and the loads I was carrying wasn't heavy construction materials, nor was I pulling a trailer. I had been driving a 4th Gen Chevy K1500 so, massive leap in technology and design. Overall been very pleased, I've got 180k miles on it and would not hesitate purchasing another one. I went with the SR5 package, the Limited, Platinum, and 1794 just had too many features as I use it for work and off-roading. While nice, I wasn't looking for a Cowboy Cadillac which is what many pick-ups have become; you want luxury, you buy a luxury vehicle. Went with the Double Cab, it was the most effective combo of interior and cargo bed. YMMV but, I've never liked the Crew Max, you loose too much in the bed for it to be effective for my uses. I was looking at the F150's then, while Ford had a lot of engine options and their turbo V6's were interesting, I wasn't a fan of their interiors, I liked the pragmatic and effective layout of the Tundra, while the overall design refinement and finish of the Ford's seemed dated to me. Just wished Toyota would start adding diesels to their trucks, especially with an off-road package, it's been teased but, nothing yet. Only downside is the gas milage leaves a lot to be desired and the gas tank capacity could be a bit bigger. ...actually, the real reason I got the Tundra was it had 13-cup holders!

SR5 upgrade package includes the big tank, console shifter, and front bucket seats. I never looked closely at the PROs, but I would imagine they all have the big tank.

Looks like this is the way to go. I can't find a pop in bed liner and from the sounds of it a spray on liner is better. Hoping one of the trucks that my local Dealership is getting will have that option. How shitty is the stereo? "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."

The Toyota spray in seems to be alright. Most of your quality aftermarket spray in liners generally have a lifetime warranty factory does not. Your dealer may have an in with the local Line X to get it cheaper. A couple places here save you $50 over taking it to Line X yourself but still have the warranty. I have the JBL and while I have heard better it is actually pretty good Yours will have the upgraded CarPlay model even if you don’t get the JBL but I would suggest it. I am not going to do anything to it but add a video input to the factory screen and run a splitter to have a screen in the back. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. I will chime in here... I am on my fourth Tundra. The first one, a 2006, has over 300,000 miles on it (I no longer own it, but keep in touch with the person I sold it to). The second one, a 2011, I sold it to someone, and don't know how it is doing. My family still owns the 3rd, a 2017 Limited Crewmax, and the fourth, a 2019 Limited Crewmax. I sold the 2011 when it had about 45K miles on it, as I ended up with an extra vehicle another family member didn't need. All four Tundras were/are flawless. No problems. Would buy another in a second if I needed another truck. One thing that has not been pointed out yet - outstanding resale value. The 2006 had about 150,000 miles when I sold it - and I still got 10K for it. I can't remember what I sold the 2011 for, but was shocked when I found out the resale value. As has already been pointed out - you WILL NOT be able to get all the latest technology on the current Tundra. Even the top of the line Platinum model contains fairly old technology (although it does have power folding mirrors, and other bells and whistles). What you WILL get with a Tundra - absolute tops in the category in reliability, dependability, and resale value. If you want a truck that just goes and goes and goes with no drama, get a Tundra. There are some people with F150s and Rams that say they have not had problems, but problems are very common with both. However, you will be able to get more up-to-date technology. Also, if you need more of a heavy-duty truck, to tow well over 10K pounds, or to plow snow or whatever, there are higher models in the Ford and Ram lines that will accommodate your needs, not so with the Tundra. You can't go wrong with a Tundra, although admittedly, they are more boring than other trucks.

I kneel for my God, and I stand for my flag |
I paid $35k for mine with 1,750 miles on the odometer and about shit as it's the most expensive vehicle I've ever owned. No way in hell I'd pay $54k for any truck. Dual exhaust, TRD PRO stamped on the bed, blacked out badges/wheels, and Fox suspension is not worth $20k. And the Pro interior is more basic than the Limited.

2022 Tundras will be a complete re-fresh fyi. Was supposed to be 2021 but they pushed it out a year.

^^^This. Don't buy anything until you've driven the RAM 1500. I've been a Ford guy for 20+ years, and the new RAM blew me away when I test drove one. There's a good reason RAM made up a bunch of ground on Ford, and leap frogged GM in sales, over the past two years. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. My 15 Crewmax Limited is my third Tundra and first Crewmax. Since I bought it I don't think people have been in the backseat more than a half dozen times but I love the backseat for carrying things and love the back window. I would have a '20 by now but they're scarce so I'll have a '21 when they're here. The big three discount and come cheaper because of it but resale doesn't compare to the Tundra. You're either paying up front or paying when you sell.

Liike I said whatever floats your boat. I like to be comfortable in a vehicle. I like certain amenities to make my all to boring drives to town tolerable. And the Taco just doesn't do it for me. Can't recall a vehicle failing me in many yeras. Quality these days is much better than in the past.

I really wanted a TRD Pro, but settled on a 2021 Tundra Limited. Bought this a week ago, very happy with it so far. "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."

I'm on my second Tundra. My first lasted me for 13 years with no issues beyond regular maintenance. My 2015 Crewmax Platinum has been equally reliable. My brother has a mac daddy version of the Ram 1500 and that thing is amazing. My neighbor just bought a Ram 1500 with the smaller diesel engine in it (he says it is made by Fiat) and his is also very, very nice. The only disappointment I have in my Tundra is the interior bells and whistles that other trucks have is severely lacking in the Tundra. Check a few different trucks out and you'll see what I mean. ____________________________ Yes, Para does appreciate humor.

We have the Sequoia Platinum 4WD and love it. Built on the Tundra platform is why I mentioned it. When my Lexus dies (if it ever does) I will be getting a Tundra 4WD for myself. The 2020 Sequoia has all the bells and whistles so I assume the Tundra would be the same. JC

Maybe not the smartest thing to do but I didn't even seriously look at other truck manufacturers. My top reasons to buy were reliability and resell value. "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."
