Blessings to you and your family. I have kept your grandson with cancer in my prayers since you first posted about it.

David that’s an inspiring story. Thank you for sharing it with us. There are times that for whatever reason we feel like giving up but thinking about the trials and tribulations of others like you gives me inspiration to keep on keeping on.

Prayers for your grandson.

Hell of a story. How'd the brother connection go? Any parallels? Similarities in your interests or personality?

Just curious. Congrats on finding him!

Thank you all. I think a lot about a quote from Shawshank Redemption:
quote:
Get busy living or get busy dying.

I don't worry about a lot of things any more. I'm also less angry than I once was. Too much life to live to let all that weigh me down.

There are quite a few parallels and interests, really amazing. It is going great, slow and steady, but great. It is a lot for either of us to take in, so we're really just chatting about normal stuff, life, kids and such.

Sigolicious, thank you for posting your story. I'm a bit in awe, and also happy for you. You've gotten quite a deep drink of life, and there's a serenity and wisdom in your words that speaks to that.

This last year has involved a lot of serious life changes for me, and that's completely leaving aside the covid nonsense. Things involving perspective, health, and time, or what's left of it. I haven't gone into it here on SF, but it's been a really, really heavy twelve months or so. I've basically had to just surrender to all of it, because anything short of that, and it becomes a crushing burden almost instantly. I feel like I've had serenity thrust upon me, as bizarre as that might sound to some, but I feel like you know what I'm talking about. My boss asked me the other day how I was doing with it all, and I told him "I get up every day, and I go to work, and I'm grateful." You said it better, though.

Steven King is a huge Dylan fan, and no doubt that line was inspired by Dylan's famous lyric ""He not busy being born is busy dying"

Thank you for sharing your story. It’s pretty interesting to see/hear other people’s experiences and what got them to where they are.

You’re not that far from me. I’m sure I will end up in your neck of the woods at some point this spring/summer going off road. Maybe we can grab some lunch?

I'll keep your daughter & grandson in my thoughts and prayers. Even though she is doing an awesome with her son, my hope is for endurance for the long term.

They sound like my neighbors situation. Her young age advantage gives her a lot of energy now. As time has been marching on, I can see her wearing down a bit.
We try to help out to give her a break to rest and encouragement.

Thanks for sharing your interesting life summary. So glad your finding the good side of life.
