I have owned at least six different such machines over the last 15-20 years, three or four of which were burr grinders, including several of the brands mentioned here so far. They all crapped out far too soon IMHO. On the last Black Friday(2019) I signed onto Amazon to see what bargains they offered and found the OXO at at a nicely discounted promo price(full price was ~ $100) and then Amazon offered me a generous cash deal to accept their credit card offer. The net result was a free to me, new and improved, OXO burr grinder. At about 6 months of heavy usage it so far beats the pants off of all its predecessors here(several of those mentioned elsewhere herein). I drink a whole lotta finely ground very strong Cuban style coffee(a teaspoon must stand upright in a cup of it) and I am very pleased with the uniformity of the grind and the delightful ease of getting that right. While it is China made, so far it seems to be solidly designed, sturdily built, quieter than all the others, and quite resistant to the clogging / cleaning issues of the other brands. It works very well and effortlessly so. I only wish it had a handle on the ground coffee receptacle. I wouldn't trade it for two or even three of its best predecessor. ![]()

I went commercial almost 15 years ago with a Cunhil Cafe Tranquilo grinder. It's still humming away. ![]() ![]() Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192

My Rancilio Rocky Doserless is 15-20 yo and it has been used everyday, 2-3 times in the morning (except vacations). The only parts replaced were for new burrs, on my third set. My wife's cousin bought one as well at the same time, and hers is the same, as of last year. From what I read, it’s no longer the case with Capreso. They grind their Chinese burrs in Switzerland but everything else is made and assembled in China. I went with the Baratza Encore. Used it this morning and it did the job. We’ll see how it holds up after it’s been in use a while. Nice to see they designed it to be repairable instead of disposable.
