70 is kind of a magic age. If you die before 70, everyone says, "But, he was so young!"

After 70 it's, "Well, he had a good run!"

Happy Birthday, PHPaul! At age 82, I don't consider 70 as old. I'm still above ground and able to move about (albeit slowly). Keep up the good work.

Happy Birthday Paul!

I look at age a little differently. Time does pass faster as you age. Or at least our perception of time.

Between ages 9 and 10, that year was ten percent of your life. Really, even more than that, because you probably don’t remember much before three, but for the sake of the point I’m making, 10%.

Between 69 and 70, that year was 1/70th of your life. So our perception of time is skewed as we get older.

I also think age has a lot to do with your mental vision of ones self. I have never seen a grownup look back at me in the mirror. I always see that dumbass kid staring back. I think this is part of why I look and feel young.

As far as the weather, riding, and enjoying life, maybe Maine is the spot for you. Have you considered moving? Like sell the farm and move to a small town where the sun shines all the time? Where’re the weather is so glorious that you start to make the assumption that you can ride everyday. Take a look at HenryAZ. He lives not too far from me. Beautiful area. Copious amounts of sunshine.

I made the move back to AZ and I am so happy I did. I never thought that I could be so happy, just by having a sunny day, every day.

Anyways, that’s just what I was thinking about age and geography.

Happy Birthday!

@Beancooker:

I'm pretty happy in Maine. I lived in Virginia, South Carolina and Florida while in the Navy and visited my parents in Phoenix. My issue with all of those locations is heat. I despise heat and humidity. Anything over 75° is too damn hot. That happens here often enough to remind me how much I hate it.

Then there's the changing seasons. Spring is such a welcome relief after Winter and Fall is just plumb beautiful. Warmth and sunshine 365 days a year would get boring I should think.

While I am finding Maine Winters increasingly unpleasant, I would still rather deal with that than heat and humidity. So far, anyway.

Plus, I'd have to go a long way to find a prettier place to live.

If I had the resources, a place in the mountains of NC or North GA for the Winter would be nice, but that ain't ever gonna happen.
